Senior Data Scientist, CompBio
Insitro
Insitro seeks a computational biologist to analyze multimodal cellular data and identify therapeutic targets. The role combines expertise in omics or imaging analysis with disease biology to advance drug development efforts within a cross-functional team.
Responsibilities
- Synthesize multimodal data including microscopy, spatial proteomics, RNA-seq, and human cohort data to uncover disease mechanisms
- Analyze perturbation screens and in vitro models to identify and prioritize potential therapeutic targets
- Partner with experimental biologists on assay design, optimization, and validation of mechanistic hypotheses
- Develop and benchmark computational workflows, define performance metrics, and select appropriate analytical solutions
- Communicate findings to cross-functional stakeholders through reports, visualizations, and presentations
Requirements
- Ph.D. in computational biology, systems biology, bioengineering, computer science, machine learning, or related field
- 3+ years post-doctoral experience in computational or computational biology roles
- Hands-on experience with single-cell RNA-seq, fluorescence microscopy, spatial proteomics, or label-free microscopy
- Strong statistical modeling and data analysis skills with ability to generate mechanistic hypotheses
- Proficiency in Python scientific packages (NumPy, pandas) and strong programming ability
- Understanding of molecular biology or disease biology (neurological, cardiovascular, metabolic)
- Track record of meaningful contributions to peer-reviewed publications
