Utility PersonMartin Marietta is seeking a Utility Person to join our team. The ideal individual will be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated. This individual will be responsible for safely and efficiently performing cross-functional duties in plant maintenance, production, and equipment operation. The utility person is responsible for greasing and lubricating plant equipment, maintaining plant housekeeping, operating equipment, and performing routine maintenance on plant and equipment.Red Hill QuarryNorth Garden, VAHours: 7AM - 5PM, weekends as necessaryA typical day for a(n) Utility Person may include:Performing preventative and routine maintenance on mobile and plant equipment, including cutting and welding under the guidance of the plant manager or other designated personnelPerforming daily pre/post-shift inspections on equipment and maintains maintenance logUsing a hand shovel and operates a skid steer, front end loader, and other tools to clean around plant equipment and to maintain roadways and parking areasOperating a water truck to limit airborne dustParticipating in plant operations including production, loading and shipping, and quality controlMaintaining good housekeeping in areas of responsibility and safe traffic flow throughout the siteOperating plant-specific mobile equipment such as excavators and haul trucks in a safe manner as neededOperating an automated scale and related computer software program to generate customer ticketsAdministering site specific training to visitors and ensures site guidelines are followedDirecting customers to the appropriate areas of the siteMaintaining accurate records of aggregate tonnage and sales activities on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and prepares basic reportsCommunicating with other site personnel to ensure proper recording of sales activities and fulfillment of customer needsAnswering customer calls and communicates pricing, product descriptions, and product availabilityMaintaining professionalism in all situations in the workplace and when working with customersAiding in the training of co-workers as neededPerforming other duties as assigned by supervisorYou may be a good fit if you:Possess a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this positionHave experience in the building materials industry (preferred)We are excited to share the base range for this position is $23.69 - $27.28, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base hourly compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The posted range for this role represents the total reasonable pay range and does not solely represent a hiring range. Therefore, hiring at the top or maximum of the range should not be expected as it would not allow for salary growth opportunities in the role, would diminish promotion value, and may not align with internal equity.
