The individual must show knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the lifespan. They must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the information needed to identify each patient's needs. Essential functions include providing radiographic CT examinations of all body parts for diagnostic interpretation. The technologist must exercise professional judgment in performance of procedures while applying principles of radiation protection. They will maintain patient records and files, pursue continuing education, and follow departmental quality assurance programs. The responsibilities also include transferring patients to and from radiology and assuming departmental oversight in the absence of a supervisor. Technologists will be required to rotate shifts as necessary and perform ancillary duties as requested. They must follow established policies and procedures and assist in the general hygiene of the department. The role requires the ability to work well in stressful situations and be willing to take call and report to work promptly. Additionally, technologists should be willing to learn other imaging modalities as deemed necessary. They must maintain competency in ancillary modalities and perform other assigned duties as required. Responsibilities in CT/Interventional include care of equipment, record maintenance, and assisting with invasive procedures. Technologists are expected to consult with referring physicians and follow standard precaution procedures. They will alter routine protocols for pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients as necessary. Additionally, they will be competent in tele-radiology transmission and sterile technique. The position may involve assisting with supply inventory and ordering as well as performing daily and weekly quality control checks. In a lead role, the technologist will work alongside leadership to support organizational goals and objectives. They will review, edit, correct, and validate procedures to ensure accurate patient image labeling. Responsibilities also include organizing daily staffing schedules and resolving staff concerns promptly. The technologist will assist with hiring, coordinate new staff orientation, and serve as a resource for clinical or technical questions. Attendance at department meetings and in-services is expected.
