About The Role We are seeking an Applied Research Engineer to develop scalable systems and high-performance pipelines for large-scale video understanding. This role combines applied research and software engineering to address challenges in computer vision, audio processing, and natural language processing. You will work with modern AI models and APIs, optimizing performance through efficient inference, preprocessing and post-processing, parallel processing, pipeline optimization, and targeted model fine-tuning as needed. This role is ideal for those who enjoy transforming research into production-ready solutions and building end-to-end AI products. Key Responsibilities Design and develop scalable pipelines for video understanding and multimodal AI applications. Develop production-grade solutions using computer vision, audio, and text processing technologies. Optimize model inference using parallelization, batching, caching, and other performance enhancements. Leverage foundation models and external AI APIs to deliver accurate, efficient solutions. Translate customer needs into scalable technical solutions. Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented Python code. Collaborate with engineering, research, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality AI solutions. Required Qualifications 2+ years of experience in computer vision, audio processing, or a related AI domain. Strong proficiency in Python. Hands-on experience with PyTorch or similar deep learning frameworks. Experience working with machine learning models and production inference pipelines. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write clean, maintainable, production-quality code. Passion for video technologies, multimodal AI, and real-world AI applications. Experience building complete products, not just training machine learning models. Ability to decompose complex customer problems into scalable engineering solutions. Preferred Qualifications Contributions to open-source projects or an active technical portfolio. Experience working in an early-stage startup environment. Experience optimizing machine learning models for production deployment. Familiarity with multimodal AI, video processing, or media technologies.
