Enterprise Metadata Architect

Job DescriptionThe Enterprise Metadata Architect is responsible for maintaining the enterprise metadata architecture and catalog of catalogs. This individual will help ensure that enterprise metadata standards are implemented consistently and that metadata assets are accurately represented, governed, and integrated across the organization.The architect administers the enterprise catalog environment, implemented on Informatica Cloud Data Governance and Catalog, and partners with the platform leader, data architecture, and data engineering to integrate metadata from multiple systems into a unified enterprise catalog.This role is responsible for supporting the design and maintaining the catalog asset model in the platform, working with engineering and data architecture on the metadata ingestion architecture, creating and maintaining workflows, and monitoring metadata quality controls. The role works closely with Data Architecture, Data Governance, Data Standards and the Business Glossary manager to ensure alignment with the enterprise semantic model and enterprise data architecture.The position is an individual contributor reporting to the Vice President of Data Management and Governance.Key ResponsibilitiesEnterprise Metadata ArchitectureDesign and maintain the enterprise metadata architecture supporting the organization’s catalog-of-catalogs environment.Enforce metadata standards.Work with Data Architecture and Engineering to collect, ingest, and harmonize across heterogeneous metadata sources.Ensure the enterprise catalog remains aligned with enterprise data architecture and semantic models defined by the data architecture function.Enterprise Catalog Platform ManagementWork with the Data Management Platform Lead to configure and manage the enterprise catalog implemented on Informatica Cloud Data Governance and Catalog.Design and maintain the enterprise catalog asset model, including:metadata object typesattributes and metadata schemashierarchical relationshipsclassification structuresdomain organizationManage metadata ingestion pipelines from multiple platforms including data platforms, modeling tools, and operational systems.Support onboarding new metadata sources into the catalog environment.Metadata Standards and GovernanceEnforce enterprise metadata standards and taxonomy structures.Establish governance processes for metadata lifecycle management including creation, certification, stewardship, and retirement.Ensure metadata assets comply with enterprise governance policies and standards.Metadata Quality and Control FrameworkDesign and implement metadata quality controls to ensure catalog accuracy, completeness, and consistency.Define metrics and monitoring processes to assess metadata quality across domains.Metadata Integration and InteroperabilitySupport the design integration patterns that allow enterprise metadata to be consumed by downstream applications including data platforms, analytics environments, and governance tools.Help maintain metadata synchronization mechanisms and crosswalks across heterogeneous metadata sources.Support automation of metadata ingestion, lineage capture, and metadata propagation.Required Skills/Experience7-10 years experience in metadata management or data managementBachelor’s degree in Computer Science/ Information Systems or related field. A Master’s degree is highly desirable.Proven experience working with data catalogs, preferably Informatica Cloud Data Management is preferred.Experience integrating data catalog with multiple database management systems and file storage technologies.Proficiency in SQL, PythonExperience in designing and managing taxonomies and asset models for managing metadata.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Familiarity with Agile.Insurance or financial services experience is nice to have.#LI-PS1At AIG, we value in-person collaboration as a vital part of our culture, which is why we ask our team members to be primarily in the office.
