Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit - Travel Registered Nurse - $1720 per week.

Experience:

• 12 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• 12 months of Medical Surgical / Telemetry Unit experience.

• Experience with Meditech is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Louisiana license or compact license (required after submission).

• This role will require floating to multiple units

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• COVID vaccination required after submission. Religious and medical declinations accepted.

• Flu vaccination required after submission. Religious, medical, and personal declinations accepted.

• No current placement allowed at Program: SimpliFi Program - Willis-Knighton Health System.

Additional Details:

Required Skills/Experience First-time travelers must have 2 years of perm staff RN experience in acute care. Ability to read cardiac strips.

Required Credentials Pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival.

Special Requests Travelers must be separated for 1 year if previously a perm staff. Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved; must extend the contract for any full week of RTO. May only request 1 weekend of RTO per 13-week contract.

Unit Details Transplant unit caring for patients awaiting transplant, recent transplant recipients, and patients with a history of transplant. Common Med-Surg/Telemetry diagnoses include CHF, COPD, altered mental status, and DKA. Occasionally cares for patients with chest tubes, peritoneal dialysis, and cardiac drips without titration; includes wound care as directed by WOCNs, IV initiation, and one-touch glucose checks. Uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing. Charge nurse may or may not have a patient assignment. Phlebotomy support for peripheral blood draws only. IV/VAT team available on days with minimal night coverage for line placement. Resource nurse support on each rotation; head RN, PCC, and educator available on day shift. RT assigned to the unit 24/7; hospitalist available with overnight call coverage. OT, PT, and ST support available.

Shift & Scheduling Mandatory 3/2 schedule rotation; will work 4 days one week and 3 days the next week. Every other weekend. No call. Will work 2/3 major holidays.

Floating Requirements Float to any other units within scope of practice. Travelers float first.

7 days maximum time off

2 Charge/Lead/Supervisor references required from within the last 12 months
