School psychologists promote learning, assess students’ needs and progress, and plan interventions to achieve selected objectives for all students. They communicate with students, parents and colleagues in a positive climate where time, space and equipment are organized for intervention and participate in activities for continuing professional growth. Major Responsibilities Provide individual and group counseling services to students. Conduct functional behavior assessments and develop behavior intervention plans. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and community agencies to support student learning and adjustment. Collect, analyze, and report data on student performance and behavior. Prepare and interpret standardized test reports. Lead and facilitate workshops and training for staff and parents. Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with ethical and legal standards. Participate in school personnel administration and professional development activities. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Understanding of developmental and learning theories. Proficiency in assessment techniques and data analysis. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Organizational and time‑management skills. Knowledge of state educational policies and legal requirements. Qualifications Doctorate in School Psychology or related field. State certification as a school psychologist in Connecticut. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a school setting. Knowledge of evidence‑based intervention strategies. Ability to obtain and maintain professional liability insurance. Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in educational practice.
