Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical/Surgical Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele experience License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - General Med/Tele skillset - Stroke experience/NIH assessments - Chest tube management - PIV starts - Trach care - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - NGT placement - Drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management) - PCA pumps - Medication gtt management including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical/Surgical Telemetry. The nurse will provide care for patients with conditions such as stroke, COPD, chest pain, altered mental status, and gastrointestinal bleeding. Patient ratios are RN: 1:5-6, depending on acuity, but may increase to 1:7-8 during surge staffing. Support within the department includes Certified Nursing Assistants, who can perform certain tasks if certified, and a charge nurse who may or may not have a patient assignment. Phlebotomy services are available 24/7, and telemetry monitoring is provided by trained techs. The electronic medical record system used is Epic, and the IV pump utilized is Alaris. There is medication dispensing through Omnicell and monitoring via Philips. Floating to other facilities within the region may be required, based on the needs of the organization. A positive and team-driven unit culture is emphasized throughout the department.
