Senior Data Analyst

Why This Role

This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who wants real ownership over how a business unit understands itself. You will be embedded with one of Brightline's business units, acting as the analytics point of contact for a full portfolio of stakeholders and the work that matters most to them.

You won't just pull numbers. You will translate what the data says into recommendations that shape real business decisions, and you will be trusted to know which problems are worth solving and which technical debt is worth surfacing before it becomes a bigger issue. You will partner directly with data leadership to engineer and mature your portfolio's analytics stack, and you will be the person stakeholders come to when they need to understand not just what happened, but why it matters.

Responsibilities

Analytics Portfolio Alignment

• Serve as the analytics point of contact for one of Brightline's business units, supporting a portfolio of stakeholders and their associated business activities.
• Partner with data leadership and analytics portfolio owners to identify opportunities for solving recurring problems and maturing your portfolio's analytics stack.
• Surface technical debt for the backlog before it becomes a larger problem.
• Partner with stakeholders to execute day to day work, and coordinate scoping, prioritization, and trade offs with data leadership.
• Serve as the subject matter expert and advisor on data and analytics to stakeholders within your aligned portfolio.

Data Governance

• Partner with stakeholders and data leadership to define your portfolio's metrics, particularly the operational levers that support and measure key performance indicators.
• Scope the impact of planned and unplanned engineering changes on data and metrics quality.
• Maintain stakeholder trust in data quality through data governance execution and relationship building.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance consistent with company policies, and proactively surface compliance risks to the legal team.
• Interface with Engineering and Marketing Operations teams to create technical requirements for tracking that satisfy data's architectural needs, including product and web eventing.

Analytics Engineering & Data Architecture

• Define, design, and develop contributions to the analytics layer architecture using dbt (data build tool) and Claude Code.
• Translate stakeholder needs into detailed technical requirements prior to development using technical communication frameworks like UML.
• Understand when and how to utilize existing data architecture capabilities over creating new features.
• Maintain consistency with the team's data design standards.
• Provide meaningful code review on fellow teammates' Pull Requests.
• Maintain dbt Semantic Layer as a single source of truth on metrics definitions.
• Independently troubleshoot development environment and coding issues.
• Develop associated context documentation with a keen eye towards empowering AI agents to correctly answer basic analytics questions.

Insight Development

• Collaboratively identify business issues, using data acumen and healthcare industry experience to propose creative solutions.
• Present insights and recommendations to stakeholders using data storytelling techniques that quickly communicate the so what.
• Develop effective data visualizations that clearly support your insights and minimize distractions.

Business Intelligence and Technology

• Build and maintain visually appealing business intelligence dashboards rooted in a high quality user experience.
• Answer ad hoc questions and pull reports using custom SQL.
• Support data engineering in designing new features in the data pipeline through requirements documentation.
• Stay current on quickly evolving AI technologies in the healthcare, technology, and data analytics space.

Cross Functional Collaboration

• Connect with key individuals within your aligned portfolio to understand their needs and influence business strategy.
• Support and lead other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as data science, statistics, computer science, business analytics, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7 to 10 years of experience in data analytics, data engineering, or other highly analytical roles.
• Previous healthcare industry experience in business intelligence, business operations, consulting, or data science, or experience in a lead or senior analytics role contributing to analytics platforms, analytics strategy, or data governance frameworks.
• A demonstrated ability to resolve complex but defined problems through creative problem solving and a strong understanding of company operations.
• An ability to anticipate and surface business needs to stakeholders and data leadership before being asked.
• A proven track record of data communication and storytelling that uses business narrative to inform business strategy.
• Expert level proficiency in SQL and modern business intelligence platforms such as Tableau.
• Familiarity with data architecture principles and technical communication frameworks such as UML.
• An ability to write technical documentation that is accessible to non technical stakeholders, enabling their input into technical design.
• Excitement to learn and use new AI tools to increase speed to insight and automate recurring tasks.
• Familiarity with web analytics and digital marketing measurement.
• Familiarity with HIPAA compliance as it impacts data analytics and data sharing.
• Experience with machine learning and other data science based predictive modeling is preferred.
• Experience with business forecasting, github, dbt Cloud, Agile, Python, Jira, and Confluence is preferred.

At Brightline we have built a total rewards philosophy that includes fair, equitable, competitive, geo-based compensation that is performance and potential based. Our strategy is based on robust market research, including external advisory specializing in national compensation, and thoughtful input from every level of our organization. Depending on the position, total compensation packages are dynamically structured and may include a combination of cash salary, equity, benefits, wellbeing, and professional opportunity. Compensation for this role varies based on geographic location and market data. Final compensation will be determined by factors including location, skills, experience, and internal equity. In compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the annual base salary range is $145,000 to $180,000.
