Our proprietary Divergent Adaptive Production System (DAPS) combines advanced engineering, robotics, and metal additive manufacturing to build complex structures faster, lighter, and more efficiently than traditional methods.We are seeking a Staff C++ Software Engineer to help develop the real-time software systems powering our next-generation metal 3D printing platforms. In this role, you will work at the intersection of software, controls, automation, and advanced manufacturing to create highly reliable machine control solutions that directly impact production performance and print quality.This is a hands-on engineering role focused on real-world hardware integration, high-performance software architecture, and intelligent automation in a fast-paced R&D and production environment.The RoleDesign and develop real-time machine control software for proprietary industrial 3D printing systemsBuild robust multithreaded applications in modern C++ for motion control, automation, and machine orchestrationDevelop and maintain operator-facing GUI applications for machine monitoring, diagnostics, and controlCreate simulation and modeling tools to validate machine behavior, optimize performance, and improve system reliabilityDesign calibration routines, fault detection logic, and automated maintenance workflows to maximize print consistency and uptimeCollaborate cross-functionally with controls, electrical, mechanical, systems, and manufacturing engineers to integrate software with complex mechatronic systemsSupport commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts on production hardwareContribute to software architecture, code quality standards, CI/CD workflows, and engineering best practicesBasic QualificationsAbility to lawfully access information and technology subject to U.S. export controlsStrong proficiency in modern C++ (C++11 or newer)Experience developing multithreaded and/or real-time software applicationsExperience with Git or similar version control systemsFamiliarity with build systems and tooling such as CMakeStrong debugging, problem-solving, and systems-level thinking skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience developing GUI applications using QtFamiliarity with OpenCV or other computer vision frameworksProficiency in Python for scripting, automation, or test toolingExperience with industrial automation, robotics, or control systemsUnderstanding of real-time systems, motion control, or digital signal processing (DSP)Experience integrating software with electromechanical hardware systemsFamiliarity with MATLAB, Simulink, or Simscape for modeling and simulationExposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated testing workflows, particularly using GitHub ActionsExperience working in advanced manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, robotics, or high-performance engineering environmentsWork EnvironmentOnsiteCompensationAt Divergent, our pay range is based on the level of the job. For this role, we will consider candidates at levels E05 - E06 as evaluated through our interview process.
