Assistant Program ManagerYou will serve within the Office of the Provost's Access & Opportunity (VPAO), advancing the office's mission to foster an inclusive and equitable environment where all faculty, staff, and students can thrive. You will lead the planning, and continuous improvement of strategic initiatives that support the success and engagement of faculty and staff across the University of Michigan. As the primary assistant program manager for the Women of Color Task Force (WCTF) and the Women of Color in the Academy Project (WOCAP), you will have multiple responsibilities. These include overseeing daily operations, program and event management, fiscal administration, communications, and partner engagement. The Assistant Program Manager delivers programming by working collaboratively with university leadership, faculty, staff, campus partners, sponsors, and community organizations. The Assistant Program Manager also manages complex projects and budgets, and cultivates partnerships that improve Access & Opportunity's priorities and strengthen the University community. The Women of Color Task Force (WCTF) is a University of Michigan staff organization, founded in 1979, that provides professional development, networking, and training opportunities for employees across campus. WCTF serves as a support network and a forum for exchanging information about the experiences of historically under-resourced staff at the University of Michigan. It maintains a continued commitment to advancing equity, access, and professional growth for all.The Women of Color in the Academy Project (WOCAP) is a campus-wide faculty network that supports scholarship and advocacy focused on equity and inclusion in higher education. WOCAP fosters a supportive and inclusive community through professional development opportunities such as writing retreats, workshops, gatherings, and networking events. The program is open to all faculty who are engaged in or supportive of this work.You will report to the Assistant Vice Provost for Access & Opportunity, the administrative home of WCTF and WOCAP. You will follow a hybrid work arrangement, with responsibilities performed both on campus and remotely. We require occasional evening hours to support its events.Responsibilities*Coordinate administrative and operational activities for WCTF and WOCAP, including leadership and committee meetings, agendas, communications, follow-up actions, records, and organizational documentationServe as a key liaison among WCTF/WOCAP leadership, the VPAO business team, campus partners, sponsors, and other university stakeholders to facilitate effective communication, administrative processes, and alignment with university policies and proceduresSupport organizational planning, governance, and reporting by maintaining membership, participation, sponsorship, and partnership records; collecting and summarizing program and event data for reporting, assessment, and sponsor updatesCoordinate and support programs, conferences, campaigns, and related activities to provide a positive and engaging experience for guests, members, and participantsCollaborate with leadership to develop and implement outreach, promotional, and engagement strategies that increase awareness and participation in main initiatives and programsCoordinate program evaluation and service delivery by administering surveys, analyzing feedback, and supervising student staff, volunteers, and vendors to support continuous improvement and program effectivenessDevelop, monitor, and reconcile annual and multi-year budgets for WCTF and WOCAP programs and events; review expenditures and recommend budget adjustments based on program priorities and needsCoordinate and oversee program financial activities, including purchasing, reimbursements, honoraria, vendor payments, contracts, sponsorships, and partnership funding, in collaboration with the VPAO business team and in accordance with university policies and fiscal requirementsDevelop and implement marketing and communications strategies for WCTF and WOCAP in collaboration with the VPAO team, campus partners, and sponsors to strengthen engagement, visibility, and participationCreate program communications and promotional content, including event announcements, newsletters, website updates, and print materials, ensuring accurate, and messaging and branding across platformsRequired Qualifications*Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experienceInterest in, and awareness of, the issues facing women of color in the workplace and in higher education in particular1+ years of experience working with diverse communitiesDemonstrated experience with program and event planningGoogle tools, social media tools, and meeting scheduling software; ability and software (e.g., Qualtrics)Why Work at Michigan?In addition to a career filled with purpose and opportunity, the University of Michigan offers a comprehensive benefits package to help you stay well, protect yourself and your family and plan for a secure future.
