Senior Tax Accountant

Role Description A Tax Senior should possess strong technical tax knowledge and be committed to delivering exceptional client service. This position prepares and reviews tax returns, provides bookkeeping and payroll services, serves as a trusted advisor to clients, and mentors junior team members. This position reports directly to the Tax/Audit Partner. Duties & Responsibilities Tax Services Prepare federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, S corporations, and trusts. Review tax returns prepared by staff to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable tax laws. Perform tax research and resolve technical tax issues. Assist clients with tax notices and correspondence from taxing authorities. Accounting & Payroll Services Provide bookkeeping and general accounting services for clients. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Process and review payroll and payroll tax filings.Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger accounts. Assist clients with accounting system questions and process improvements. Client Service Develop and maintain strong client relationships through responsive communication and exceptional service. Meet with clients to discuss tax matters, financial information, and planning opportunities. Respond promptly to client questions and provide practical, solution-oriented advice. Manage multiple client engagements while ensuring deadlines are met. Leadership Review work prepared by staff and provide constructive feedback. Communicate engagement progress and potential issues to the Tax Partner. Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and accountability in all interactions. General Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Thorough knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations. Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. Ability to prepare and review complex individual and business tax returns. Proficiency in bookkeeping and payroll processing. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills with a client-service focus. High level of professionalism, integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail. Proficiency with tax preparation software, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office applications. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field. Minimum of three (3) years of public accounting experience with progressive tax responsibilities. Enrolled Agent (EA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation. Experience preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns. Experience providing bookkeeping and payroll services.
