Join Midstate Radiology Associates (MRA) as a Full Time, 2nd Shift, MRI Technologist to work at our Whitney Imaging Location in Hamden. Position Schedule: Mon - Thur 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM, Fri 8:30 AM - 10:00 PM. Compensation range: $35.50 - $54.41 per hour plus applicable shift differentials. Job Summary: Operates equipment and performs diagnostic and therapeutic MRI procedures on patients according to established protocols. Follows established policies and procedures set by the department, hospital, state, ACR, TJC, and OSHA. Key Accountabilities Performs diagnostic MRI scanning procedures, selecting correct technique based on patient age, diagnosis, and produces technically accurate cross‑sectional images to assist the radiologist in diagnosis and treatment. Participates in complex invasive MRI exams by assisting the radiologist, using proper sterile technique and producing MRI images for therapeutic and diagnostic services. Starts, assesses, and injects intravenous contrast according to protocols to assist the radiologist. Practices MRI safety policy at assigned sites. Maintains MRI equipment, cleans, disinfects after use, keeps work area orderly, reports hazardous conditions or breakdowns to supervisor. Demonstrates yearly competencies, knowledge and behaviors, to conduct examinations and address patient needs. Review physician’s orders and patient requisitions for completeness, ensuring correct procedure and protocol. Documents relevant patient and exam information, stores computerized images on archive media. Prepares examination for interpretation: correctly identifies and processes, sets up films in PACs, inputs data in RIS to capture charges. Possesses computer skills appropriate for departmental needs. Performs and documents weekly quality assurance testing on equipment according to protocols. Works effectively as a team member within the department and inter‑unit collaboration. Provides clinical supervision and instruction to students regarding policies, procedures, and competency process. Qualifications High‑school diploma or equivalent. Graduate from AMA‑approved radiology program. Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Obtain MRI certification within six months of hire. CT state license. CPR certification (may be required). Maintain continuing education credits as required by licensure. Desirable: At least one year’s experience as a radiological technologist. Associate or Applied Science degree in related field. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Operational knowledge of MRI equipment. Ability to schedule, organize, and monitor patient flow to meet productivity, quality, health, and safety standards. Effective communication with patients, relatives, medical staff, and coworkers. Venipuncture certification (where applicable). Maintain confidentiality of patient records. Read and follow internal quality standards and government regulations. Follow specifications and instructions. Remain calm and effective in emergencies; maintain CPR skills. Special Conditions May be required to rotate on night, weekend and/or holiday call schedule. May be required to cover ancillary offices as needed. OSHA Class 1 exposure to bloodborne pathogens. May involve physical lifting and/or walking.
