Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this leader partners closely across business and support areas and owns the firm's data agenda, including priority use cases, data platforms, and governance. This person ensures data capabilities translate into measurable business impact and treats data as a business asset with clear ownership, accountability, and value to the firm. The CDO oversees data governance, engineering, and analytics to deliver a unified view of client and business data.What you are good at:Leadership: building and developing high-performing data and analytics teamsInfluence: partnering across business, technology, and field leadership to drive adoptionStrategy: defining practical data priorities tied to our growth agenda and targeted business outcomesData management: establishing governance, quality standards, and scalable architectureExecution: translating data initiatives into usable tools and insightsResponsibilities:Enterprise data strategyDefines and owns the firm's data agenda, including priority data initiatives and use casesAligns data strategy and investments to business priorities, including recruiting, organic growth, and scalabilityEnsures data investments have measurable outcomes and clear returns on investmentEstablishes a unified view of core data domains (e.g., clients, households, accounts, positions) across platformsPrioritizes high-impact use cases that drive adoption and business valueData governance and qualityEstablishes ownership, standards, and definitions for core data domainsDefines data ownership across business and technology teams, ensuring accountability for definitions, quality, and usageImplements a clear data operating model, outlining how and when teams engage the data organizationServes as central coordination point for enterprise data efforts, including vendor platform implementations, software development projects, analytics initiatives, and data requestsEnsures data quality, integrity, and accessibility across key systemsImplements governance that improves consistency while enabling speed of deliveryDrives adoption of governance tools and processes (e.g., catalog, lineage, stewardship)Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and manages data-related risksData architecture and platformOversees and enhances the firm's data stores (e.g., warehouse) as core repositories for enterprise dataEnsures integration across systems such as CRM, custody, planning, and operational data storesDrives modular API-first strategy that reduces data sprawl across systemsPartners with technology teams to embed data in applications and workflowsImproves data flows to reduce fragmentation and manual processesData standards and toolingEstablishes front-to-back standards for industry-leading data, reporting, and analytics toolsRationalizes and streamlines business intelligence and analytics platforms to reduce fragmentationDrives convergence toward a focused set of tools with clear use cases and minimal overlapEnsures consistent definitions and reporting logic across the organizationAnalytics and insightsPartners with FP&A to deliver dashboards supporting financial and business decision-makingDelivers actionable insights to improve advisor productivity and client engagementDevelops reporting that is trusted, usable, and aligned with business needsClient and advisor enablementEmbeds data and insights into advisor and business workflowsSupports client segmentation, personalization, and book analyticsDrives adoption and holds business partners accountable for usageExecution and performance managementOwns business outcomes and value realization for data initiativesDefines success metrics and tracks impact on business performanceAllocates resources to highest-priority initiativesLeadership and capability buildingBuilds and develops high-performing data and analytics teams with deep business expertiseIncreases data literacy across organization through practical enablementOversees sourcing, integration, and effective management of external dataManages relationships with external vendors and data providersQualifications and experience:Bachelor's degree in technology, data, or business; advanced degree preferred15+ years of experience in data, analytics, or technology within financial servicesWealth management experience preferred, other financial services experience will be consideredProven ability to build and scale business-focused data capabilitiesExperience with enterprise data warehouses and modern data tools and platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Snowflake, etc.)Strong understanding of governance, architecture, and analytics ecosystemsExperience rationalizing tools and establishing standardsExperience driving adoption in a decentralized or advisor-led environmentFamiliarity with regulatory and compliance considerationsExperience partnering with FP&A and technology teams on report and system implementationDemonstrated ability to deliver measurable outcomesPrior people management experience, including recruitment and retention of top data talentAbility to work 3 days a week in Philadelphia officeWhy work for us?Benefits: Janney believes that its employees are the key to what makes a great company.
