Floor Supervisor

The Floor Supervisor creates unforgettable moments through elevated hospitality by supporting exceptional guest experiences, fostering a positive team culture, and helping ensure operational excellence throughout every shift. The Floor Supervisor is an hourly, non-exempt frontline leadership role responsible for supporting daily restaurant operations, coaching team members, and assisting management with service execution. This position serves as a developmental step toward future management opportunities by providing exposure to operational leadership, labor coordination, compliance, and administrative responsibilities. This position does not independently issue disciplinary action, make hiring decisions, conduct interviews, manage personnel records, or exercise authority over employment decisions. Employee relations concerns, policy violations, and employment-related matters must be escalated to management.

Job Duties

Guest Experience & Service Leadership

• Lead by example in delivering elevated hospitality and service excellence by fostering memorable guest experiences, proactively addressing guest concerns, and assisting with approved guest recovery efforts, including comps, discounts, voids, and other service recovery actions.
• Engage with guests to identify opportunities to enhance the guest experience by maintaining a visible presence on the floor during service, conducting table touches, and communicating guest feedback, trends, and concerns to management.
• Maintain a calm, professional demeanor during periods of high volume, service disruptions, or challenging guest situations.

Operational Floor Excellence & Shift Execution

• Support daily floor operations, special events, large parties, and private dining functions while maintaining service standards throughout service.
• Monitor service flow and coordinate with Front of House and Back of House teams to support efficient operations.
• Conduct opening, closing, and shift readiness checks to ensure service stations, dining areas, and operational supplies remain organized, stocked, and service ready.
• Communicate operational updates, daily priorities, menu updates, service expectations, and business needs to team members throughout the shift.
• Coordinate with culinary and bar leadership regarding inventory updates, product shortages, unavailable menu items, and operational supply or equipment concerns.
• Observe operational challenges, service obstacles, team morale concerns, and other issues requiring management awareness or follow-up and communicate findings to management.
• Identify operational inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement, communicate recommendations to management, and support the implementation of operational initiatives, service standards, and company programs.

Labor, Financial & Administrative Support

• Monitor staffing levels and business volume throughout service and support labor deployment activities, including employee cuts, scheduling coordination, shift changes, and meal and rest break coverage.
• Utilize timekeeping systems appropriately, assist with cash handling procedures and operational controls in accordance with company policies, and communicate payroll, cash handling, or timekeeping concerns to management.
• Assist management with operational follow-up, reporting, and administrative tasks assigned.

Employee Coaching & Development

• Provide real-time coaching and guidance by reinforcing company standards, recognizing positive performance, and communicating concerns, successes, and development opportunities to management.
• Communicate concerns, successes, and development opportunities to management.
• Assist with the coordination and completion of employee training and onboarding activities.
• Support training documentation and training completion processes.
• Model professionalism, accountability, reliability, and consistent attendance for team members.

Safety & Compliance

• Maintain awareness of workplace safety conditions and assist with documenting, communicating, and reporting hazards, accidents, injuries, safety concerns, compliance matters, and other issues requiring management review and follow-up.
• Support compliance with company policies, health and safety standards, food safety requirements, and responsible alcohol service practices.
• Assist with coordinating meal and rest break coverage and communicate potential compliance concerns to management.
• Escalate employee concerns involving workplace conduct, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, policy violations, or other employee relations matters to management in accordance with company procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum one (1) year of experience in hospitality, restaurant operations, or a leadership role preferred.
• Strong guest service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to effectively coach and motivate team members.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of restaurant operations, service standards, food safety practices, and responsible alcohol service requirements.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and other shifts as business needs require.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds independently and 50 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
