The first 12-weeks of employment for our Financial Specialists are devoted to you and your learning/training.Your role involves understanding members' needs, offering financial education, consultative sales - making tailored recommendations to help them achieve their financial goals and dreams.As a Personal Banker you'll experience the meaningful impact of your assistance, guiding members through pivotal financial moments such as opening their first account, securing loans, and planning for retirement. If yes, then this is the job for you!This training class has a start date of September 21st.ResponsibilitiesA Day in the Life of a Financial SpecialistEvery day will be different, but below is a snapshot of what you will do:Start the day at your assigned branch location and meet with your team for a morning huddle to discuss updates and goals for the dayGreet members as they come into the branch and be a resource to our membersMeet with members to learn about their financial goals and educate them on financial products and servicesOpen up accounts, complete loan applications, answer member questions, and handle transactionsJoin the weekly 8:00 a.m. team meeting to learn about team updates, branch news, and new productsUnderstand all credit union products and services through training and self-guided learning toolsCall members to check-in and follow-up on new account activityPartner with team members to meet the goals for product sales and referralsBe a leader at the branch and serve as a mentor and positive role model for Tellers and Financial SpecialistsHandle escalations to effectively address critical member needs and concernsQualificationsThese skills and experiences are essential to your success:3+ years of customer service and/or consultative sales experienceDemonstrated analytical, accuracy and problem-solving skillsAbility to learn a wide range of knowledge and continue to learn and develop your skill-set in a robust feedback environmentStrong verbal and written interpersonal communication skillsAbility to develop and maintain positive relationships and provide top-notch serviceDemonstrated experience being flexible, adaptable, coachable, and collaborative in an autonomous and constantly changing work environmentNatural skill-set to lead and influence othersProficiency with personal computer and office softwareMust obtain and maintain Notary Public certification in accordance with state requirementsThese attributes and knowledge are desired but not required:1-2 years of experience working in a financial institution or in a retail leadership roleKnowledge of new accounts, savings instruments, and consumer lendingConsultative sales experienceThis training class is anticipated to begin September 21st:Virtual, classroom and branch training for the first 12-weeks of employmentOn the job training at a greater Milwaukee area branch location that will be determined by your start date3 hours a week dedicated to studying to pass the Credit Life Credit Disability (CLCD) ExamContinuous learning and development opportunities including but not limited to transparent dialogs, resources, tools, and technical learning modulesWorking at UW Credit UnionWhy work for UW Credit Union?Join one of Wisconsin's premier financial institutions, a National Top Workplace and multi-year recipient of Madison Magazine's Best Places to Work, Wisconsin State Journal's Top Workplaces, and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Top Workplaces to receive:21.5+ days annual paid time off2 weeks paid caregiver leave2.5 weeks paid new child parental leave2 days paid volunteer time11 paid holidays (includes your birthday!)401k company match of up to 5%, plus approximately 4% discretionary matchVariable bonus rewardCompetitive Medical, Dental and Vision plans, including domestic partner eligibilityEmployee Assistance ProgramAll employees must possess valid work authorization to work for UWCU on the date of hire.
