Preschool Cook Position

Cook Responsibilities:

• To be responsible for the welfare, health, and safety of the children in the group. To offer a program that meets the emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs of both the individual and the group. Treat each child with dignity and respect but with open affection.
• Set up workstation and kitchen with all needed ingredients, cooking equipment, and sanitation stations. Breakdown workstation and kitchen by properly storing food and supply items, properly sanitizing and cleaning all areas, and prepping for the next day.
• Follow the menu accurately as outlined by Magic Memories and Food Program regulations. Prepare snacks and meals accordingly using only ingredients provided by Magic Memories. Be knowledgeable of all the regulations of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
• Maintain accurate food inventories and check the quality of food. Properly store food items in appropriate locations and follow the outlined procedures as defined by the Health Department. Rotate stock items per established procedures.
• Maintain an accurate record of food allergies and sensitivities. Ensure that all meals are properly prepared for their individual needs. Make accommodations for individual needs when capable. Maintain communication with Director, Teachers, and Parents regarding individual substitute items needed.
• Use appropriate and positive discipline. The Cook should implement and model the school-wide behavior of positive reinforcement and redirection.
• Attend monthly staff meetings. Attend monthly one-on-one meetings with the Director.

Floater Responsibilities:

• To be responsible for the welfare, health, and safety of the children in the group. To offer a program that meets the emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs of both the individual and the group.
• Support the Director and be flexible to assist with program needs. This includes, but is not limited to, being comfortable with all age groups, doing building tasks, and seeking out the Director and/or Assistant Director for new tasks when time becomes available. Also, help prepare supplies and materials needed.
• To advise the Director of the need for supplies, materials, and new equipment as needed.
• Support the Director with staff coverage by assuming temporary teacher responsibilities in the classroom when necessary.
• Assist with planning and carrying out weekly lesson plans based on a curriculum outline and themes. Help to ensure that all state standards and objectives are included in lesson plans. Interact with the children to encourage their involvement in group activities.
• Implement and be an example of the culture, mission, vision, and core values of Magic Memories.
• Duties and Responsibilities can be added and or changed at any time without notice.
• If necessary, in the absence of the Director and Assistant Director, assume the responsibilities of the Director as outlined by the Director, Regional Director, VP of Operations and the President.
• Any other activities deemed necessary by the Director, Regional Director, President and VP of Operations.

Educational Requirements: The Cook shall have attained the following qualification levels:

• A minimum of a High School Diploma and 2 years of experience working with children.
• A ServSafe Certificate and 2 years of cooking or working in food prep.

• Sensitivity to the individual and group needs of children.

• Create an atmosphere of positive and appropriate discipline.
• Sensitive to the individual needs of parents.

Pay Range $14.50-$18.75/hr
