Position Overview: Clinician Educator Neurosurgeon (Trauma & Spine)

Our organization is seeking to fill a Clinician Educator role at the rank of Clinical Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor within the Department of Neurosurgery at a prestigious medical school. We are particularly keen on candidates with a background in neurosurgical trauma and spinal surgery.

The primary qualification for this Clinician Educator position is a demonstrated excellence in a combination of clinical care, teaching, administrative duties, and/or scholarly activities that align with the needs of our program.

Applicants must possess an M.D. degree and secure medical licensure in California.

Key responsibilities will encompass both surgical and medical management of inpatients and outpatients at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC) and Regional Medical Center (RMC), both of which serve as teaching affiliates. The main clinical duties will be based at RMC in San Jose, California, a busy Level-2 trauma facility.

This role offers extensive exposure to the surgical management of cranial and spinal trauma, tumors, as well as minimally invasive and complex spinal procedures. There will be significant opportunities for clinical research through established tumor and trauma registries. The position also provides access to advanced imaging technologies, including intraoperative CT and 3D fluoroscopy. Participation in weekly clinical conferences and involvement in resident education will also be expected.

Current full-time faculty members include Drs. Harminder Singh, Marco Lee, Tene Cage, and Adela Wu.

Expected Base Pay Range for This Position:

  • Assistant Professor Step 1-7: $358,000 - $376,000
  • Associate Professor Step 1-7: $421,000 - $439,000
  • Professor Step 1-7: $483,000 - $495,000

This pay range reflects the base salary, which is influenced by faculty rank and years of service. It does not encompass all elements of the faculty compensation program or earnings from departmental incentive programs. The organization has provided this pay range as a good faith estimate of what it anticipates offering for the position. The final salary for the selected candidate will be influenced by factors such as experience, qualifications, years in rank, training, and field or specialty; internal equity; and external market rates for similar roles.
