Meter TechnicianThe position of Meter Technician is part of the town's Public Works Department. This position's main responsibilities are to maintain and service the AMI and Non-AMI meters of the Town of Landis through analytics and onsite maintenance.Essential duties and responsibilities include:Monitor RNI analytics for meter errors.Dispatching of water/electrical departments for work orders.Conduct RNI meter maintenance and updates.Obtain meter reads for all non-AMI meters.Maintain and report all meters and their conditions.Oversee Inventory of Water/Electric Departments.Oversee Inventory of MXU, Meters, and Garbage Cans.Test/Change out meters.Alarm monitoring/notification of customers.Conduct all utility locates for Town of Landis utilities.Any other task designated by the Town Manager, Public Works Director, or Water/Sewer Resources Foreman.Physical demands include talking or hearing, standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms, climbing or balancing, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 20 pounds constantly to lift objects. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Work environment includes exposure to operating mechanical equipment creating fumes, odors, dust, and atmospheric conditions with extreme cold and heat for extended periods of time. Employee is subject to a level of noise requiring workers to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. In addition, the employee is subject to a chance of injury from walking or standing in a construction site.Knowledge, skills, and abilities include general knowledge of the safe use, operation, and preventive maintenance of the equipment which is assigned. One to two years' experience as a meter technician preferred. Experience locating utilities preferred. Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations.Special requirements include possession of a valid North Carolina Commercial A driver's license. May require mandatory call backs (or on call during cut off weeks). First aid and CPR certification. May include nights, weekends, and holidays. This position requires the employee to be subject to random drug testing as per the Town of Landis Policy.Closing date: 08/27/2026
