Secondary Teacher

Overview LifeWise Secondary Education teachers will demonstrate in-depth Bible knowledge and outstanding teaching abilities for students in grades 6-12. The ideal candidate is an active church participant with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is caring, committed and proficient in teaching. - Minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience (with students) in either a school or church setting
- A mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith
- Active participation in and commitment to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the "What We Believe" section of the the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith
- Complete Initial and Ongoing Training
- Complete the LifeWise Teacher Certification Course within 30 days of the start date and prior to teaching in the LifeWise classroom
- Participate in the annual LifeWise Summit each year
- Attend at least one Teachers' Lounge or one LifeWise Meet-Up per year
- Stay up to date on training and updates by regularly checking LifeWise email
- Teach LifeWise Classes
- Utilize the LifeWise curriculum to lesson plan and map out curriculum customization
- Apply LifeWise policies, procedures and resources
- Implement age-appropriate lesson plans using only LifeWise curriculum
- Invest in connecting with students through building relationships and praying for them regularly
- Cultivate an organized and encouraging classroom environment through various teaching strategies and discipline that is redemptive in nature
- Prioritize student engagement
- Maintain Records
- Keep accurate student attendance records
- Maintain accurate class rosters including health concerns, special needs of students and photo permission as noted on parent permission slips
- Prepare adequate lesson plans, information and materials for a substitute teacher
- Maintain the Classroom
- Establish a culture that fosters academic pursuits and a love of learning as a means to promote a spiritual growth
- Maintain a clean, attractive, age appropriate and well-ordered classroom
- Know procedures for dealing with emergency situations
- Purchase classroom supplies as neede using funds provided by the program director
- Communicate
- Act as a LifeWise Academy ambassador within the community
- Attend events as available or requested by the program director
- Maintain ongoing dialogue with school personnel to stay apprised of class schedule changes and ensure student well-being
- Build relationships with volunteers and keep them apprised of schedule changes
- Submit regular updates, stories and photos to the program director
- Promote and communicate LifeWise's religious mission in all duties and interactions, ensuring alignment with the organization's core values and beliefs
