The position involves a night/mid shift rotation from 19:00 to 07:00 and 11:00 to 23:00. Weekend work is required every other weekend. Accepting first-time travelers with at least one year of experience. The patient ratio is 1:5. Candidates must not reside within a 75-mile radius. Candidates should be experienced with EPIC charting. The unit is an 11-bed emergency department with a separate space for behavioral health crises. The behavioral health space is divided into two areas: an evaluation space and an extended observation space. The evaluation space can hold up to 6 patients, while the extended observation space can hold 2 patients. A nurse, Patient Care Technician, and behavioral health team staff the unit when patients are present. Patients are triaged and medically cleared before entering the behavioral health space. While in this area, they may require lab tests or EKGs. Staff typically work 6-hour blocks in the behavioral health space during the day and mid shifts. Night shifts may involve 12-hour blocks in the space. Security personnel are posted in the emergency department. The patient demographics include adolescents, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics. Daily visit numbers average around 40 patients. The emergency department handles mostly acute cases with chronic conditions, including behavioral health crises. Staff will float between various areas as required.
