Senior HVAC & Mechanical Specialist

As our manufacturing footprint continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Facilities Mechanical/HVAC Engineer to serve as the technical owner of our mechanical and HVAC infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring reliable operation of critical facility systems that support high-volume AI server manufacturing, while driving system reliability, preventative maintenance strategies, energy optimization, and continuous improvement. What You'll Do Own the performance, reliability, and maintenance strategy for facility mechanical and HVAC systems supporting manufacturing operations. Lead advanced troubleshooting of refrigeration, airflow, hydronic, heat transfer, compressor, pump, fan, and mechanical control issues. Develop and improve preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs. Analyze Building Management System (BMS) trends to improve cooling stability, equipment reliability, and energy efficiency. Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement long-term corrective actions for recurring equipment failures. Support commissioning, startup, testing, and validation of new mechanical systems and facility expansions. Evaluate cooling capacity requirements for new production lines, manufacturing equipment, and facility growth. Develop equipment specifications, scopes of work, commissioning plans, and technical bid evaluations. Coordinate with Facilities Electrical Engineering on controls, VFDs, power distribution, and integrated facility systems. Manage contractors and specialized service providers while ensuring quality, safety, and compliance. Maintain P&IDs, equipment documentation, operating procedures, maintenance standards, and engineering records. Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, EHS, and Facilities teams to minimize production downtime and improve facility performance. Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree, technical diploma, HVAC/Refrigeration apprenticeship, or equivalent hands-on experience. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is preferred. 7+ years of experience supporting: Industrial HVAC, Manufacturing Facilities, Data Centers Experience interpreting P&IDs, mechanical drawings, equipment specifications, and control sequences. Experience developing preventive and predictive maintenance programs using CMMS. Strong knowledge of OSHA safety standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), refrigerant handling, confined space, and mechanical safety. Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting AI server manufacturing, electronics manufacturing, or advanced technology manufacturing. Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS) such as: Siemens Desigo Johnson Controls Metasys Experience with commissioning, testing & balancing, and facility expansion projects. Reliability or predictive maintenance certifications. CMRP, NATE, HVAC Excellence, CEM, or comparable certifications. Previous experience mentoring technicians and leading contractors during critical maintenance activities. Why Join Compal?
