Transportation SupervisorEducation/Certification: Required: High School Graduate or GED CDL with Passenger (P), School Bus (S) and Air brake endorsement must be obtained within 90 days after hire Technology Proficiency: Level 2-Applied (use of) Computer operations Software productivity tools (i.e., Microsoft Office) E-mail Printers Job-relate financial systems Multimedia tools Applied use of electronic file management Experience: Preferred: Three years of experience in transportation. Personal Required: Ability to work in a stressful environment Ability to delegate responsibilities and manage personnel and resources to achieve desired objective. Ability to assist in management of an operation on normal school days, late nights and/or weekends. Ability to coordinate, schedule or dispatch field trips and other activities. Posses strong leadership capabilities and have a positive mental attitude. Ability to accurately interpret, follow and apply departmental policies and procedures consistently. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, employees, parents and school officials. Ability to install equipment and instruct other employees in the proper techniques associated with the equipment. Ability to pass annual DOT physical Subject to random alcohol and drug screens (49 CFR Part 382.305)Function Responsible for the prompt and efficient dispatching of all buses, equipment, assigning of personnel to routes, field trips, mid-day shuttles, and all other matters relating to the transportation of students to ensure the proper operation of the Office of Transportation.Reports To: Operations SupervisorResponsibilities: Responsible for the timely departure of all routes, field trips and other trips to ensure the timely arrival of buses at the destination as per instructions and/or route schedules. Responsible for reporting vehicle breakdowns to the maintenance service writer, shop floor supervisor or shop foreman for prompt and immediate action. Responsible for the daily input and administration of the Transportation Routing System. Responsible for the transportation requirements for the summer school program. Responsible for the daily maintenance of the "School Bus Daily Trip Schedule Board." Maintains and periodically updates the master file route sheets and maps. Maintains accurate records on student riders. Provides information to drivers regarding procedures, rules and regulations regarding work. Maintains accurate records for preparation of various state reports. Responsible for all matters related to the transportation of students. Ability to drive school bus routes as needed Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Director and Administrative Officer for Transportation, Operations Supervisor and Assistant Operations Supervisor.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for the assignment of drivers, sub-drivers and attendants to specific routes and make required changes to complete the assigned tasks. Responsible for the coordination of mid-day, late runs and tutorial routes and field trips. Responsible for logging the lateness and absences of drivers, sub-drivers and bus attendants and maintains accurate records on driver attendance.WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental/Physical Demands and Environmental Factors Challenging situations; limited in-District travel; light lifting Occasional prolonged and irregular hours/split shift.
