Position Summary
The Scholarship Coordinator plays a key role in supporting The Tandana Foundation's scholarship program and broader community initiatives in Ecuador. The coordinator works closely with students, families, community members, and organizational staff to foster student success, strengthen community engagement, and contribute to the long-term sustainability and impact of Tandana's programs.
The Scholarship Coordinator provides mentorship and support to scholarship recipients, oversees program administration and monitoring, and helps evaluate and strengthen program effectiveness. This role also contributes to community initiatives through participant follow-up, data collection, monitoring, and evaluation activities.
The ideal candidate is committed to The Tandana Foundation's mission of supporting community goals through caring intercultural relationships and demonstrates alignment with the organization's core values of responsibility, respect, inclusiveness, mutually beneficial partnerships, and organic, community-led change.
This full-time position is in-person and reports to our office in the community of Panecillo de Quichinche, Otavalo, Imbabura, Ecuador.
Key Responsibilities
Scholarship Program Coordination and Student Support
- Coordinate all aspects of the scholarship program, including outreach, recruitment, application management, student selection, orientation, and ongoing administration.
- Maintain accurate student records and scholarship databases, ensuring timely collection and reporting of academic, participation, and program data.
- Monitor student academic progress and well-being through regular communication with students, families, schools, and university partners.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and referrals to tutoring or other support services as needed.
- Support students in identifying educational, career, leadership, and service opportunities that contribute to their personal and professional development.
- Assist students in successfully transitioning between educational stages, particularly from secondary school to university.
Student Engagement and Leadership Development
- Foster a sense of community among scholarship recipients and encourage active participation in Tandana programs and activities.
- Coordinate orientation sessions, workshops, service opportunities, and other activities that promote leadership, responsibility, and community engagement.
- Support and monitor student service projects and ensure fulfillment of program expectations related to community service.
- Recognize and celebrate student achievements through graduations, events, certificates, and other forms of acknowledgment.
Program Monitoring, Evaluation, and Improvement
- Collect and analyze information related to student outcomes, participation, challenges, and successes.
- Conduct follow-up activities with students and families to assess needs, identify barriers, and support retention.
- Prepare periodic reports that summarize program activities, outcomes, successes, concerns, and recommendations.
- Contribute to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of the scholarship program by identifying opportunities to increase effectiveness, sustainability, and long-term impact.
- Help shape program strategies and practices that empower students, strengthen communities, and support lasting positive change.
Community Initiative Support
- Support the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of community initiatives as assigned.
- Conduct follow-up with project participants, community leaders, and partner organizations to track progress and outcomes.
- Assist with data collection, documentation, reporting, and impact assessment activities for organizational programs.
- Help identify lessons learned and opportunities to strengthen project effectiveness and community ownership.
- Support community outreach, trainings, meetings, workshops, and other activities that advance organizational goals.
Organizational Collaboration and Administration
- Participate actively in team meetings, scholarship committee meetings, planning sessions, trainings, and organizational events.
- Support fundraising, communications, and donor engagement efforts by gathering stories, photographs, testimonials, and program information.
- Complete administrative responsibilities, including expense reporting, field reports, and other assigned documentation.
- Contribute to a collaborative organizational culture grounded in Tandana's mission and values.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with youth, students, families, or educational programs.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and maintain detailed records.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and standard office software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Commitment to educational access, youth development, and community engagement.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting salary of $482 (sueldo basico) per month, with opportunities for increase based on performance.

Responsabilidades clave
Coordinación del programa de becas y apoyo estudiantil
- Coordinar todos los aspectos del programa de becas, incluyendo la difusión, el reclutamiento, la gestión de solicitudes, la selección de estudiantes, la orientación y la administración continua.
- Mantener registros precisos de los estudiantes y bases de datos de becas, garantizando la recopilación y el reporte oportunos de datos académicos, de participación y del programa.
- Supervisar el progreso académico y el bienestar de los estudiantes mediante una comunicación regular con los alumnos, sus familias, los centros educativos y los socios universitarios.
- Proporcionar tutoría, orientación y derivaciones a servicios de tutoría u otros servicios de apoyo según sea necesario.
- Apoyar a los estudiantes en la identificación de oportunidades educativas, profesionales, de liderazgo y de servicio que contribuyan a su desarrollo personal y profesional.
- Ayudar a los estudiantes a realizar una transición exitosa entre las diferentes etapas educativas, en particular de la escuela secundaria a la universidad.

- Fomentar un sentido de comunidad entre los beneficiarios de las becas y alentar la participación activa en los programas y actividades de Tandana.

- Realizar actividades de seguimiento con los estudiantes y sus familias para evaluar las necesidades, identificar obstáculos y fomentar la permanencia en los estudios.
- Elaborar informes periódicos que resuman las actividades, los resultados, los logros, las preocupaciones y las recomendaciones del programa.
- Contribuir a la evaluación y mejora continua del programa de becas, identificando oportunidades para aumentar su eficacia, sostenibilidad e impacto a largo plazo.
- Ayuda a definir estrategias y prácticas programáticas que empoderen a los estudiantes, fortalezcan las comunidades y promuevan un cambio positivo y duradero.
Apoyo a la iniciativa comunitaria
- Apoyar la implementación, el seguimiento y la evaluación de las iniciativas comunitarias que se le asignen.
- Realizar un seguimiento con los participantes del proyecto, los líderes comunitarios y las organizaciones asociadas para evaluar el progreso y los resultados.

Colaboración y administración organizacional
- Participar activamente en las reuniones de equipo, las reuniones del comité de becas, las sesiones de planificación, las capacitaciones y los eventos de la organización.
- Apoyar las iniciativas de recaudación de fondos, comunicación y captación de donantes mediante la recopilación de historias, fotografías, testimonios e información sobre los programas.
- Realizar todas las responsabilidades administrativas, incluyendo la presentación de informes de gastos, informes de campo y demás documentación asignada.

Requisitos
- Una licenciatura en Educación, Trabajo Social, Psicología, Servicios Humanos o un campo relacionado.
