Outside Machinist Location: Tampa, FL (Shipyard Environment) Job Type: Full-Time Pay: $29 to $36 (Per diem offered if located 75+ miles from Tampa) Schedule: we have 1st and 2nd shift openings HABLAMOS ESPANOL (For a quicker response please text Jose at View phone number on click.appcast.io) We are seeking an experienced Outside Machinist to join our shipyard team in Tampa, FL. The Outside Machinist is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, alignment, and overhaul of mechanical equipment and machinery aboard ships and within the shipyard. This position requires hands-on experience with marine propulsion systems, pumps, valves, turbines, engines, and related shipboard equipment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair shipboard mechanical systems and equipment. Remove, disassemble, inspect, repair, and reinstall pumps, valves, compressors, heat exchangers, and related machinery. Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other measuring instruments. Align shafts, couplings, bearings, pumps, and machinery to required tolerances. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and specifications. Conduct maintenance on propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, and deck equipment. Perform flange makeup, hydro testing, gasket replacement, and pipe system repairs. Utilize rigging equipment to move and position machinery components safely. Assist with dry dock, repair, overhaul, and modernization projects. Follow all shipyard, OSHA, and safety regulations while working in confined spaces, elevated areas, and aboard vessels. Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and completed work. Qualifications Minimum 2+ years of mechanical, industrial maintenance, marine, shipyard, or outside machinist experience preferred. Experience working on marine vessels, naval ships, commercial ships, or industrial equipment. Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and engineering drawings. Strong knowledge of pumps, valves, gearboxes, compressors, hydraulic systems, and rotating equipment. Familiarity with shaft alignment and precision measuring tools. Experience with rigging and safe material handling practices. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. This is a Permanent position based out of Tampa, FL. The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $36.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
