Actalent is currently hiring for a Medical Assistant in San Marcos, TX.

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Assistant to join a growing rheumatology practice in San Marcos, TX. This individual will work directly with the rheumatologist and clinical care team to provide outstanding patient care, support daily clinic operations, and ensure a positive patient experience. This is an excellent opportunity for a Medical Assistant looking to gain specialty clinic experience and grow into a long-term role.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs, conducting patient intake, and reconciling medications
• Assist providers with rheumatology procedures, including joint injections and aspirations
• Process and manage prior authorizations for specialty medications and biologic therapies
• Maintain accurate patient records within EMR/EHR systems
• Assist with chart preparation and clinical documentation
• Coordinate referrals, imaging orders, and follow-up appointments
• Educate patients on medications, treatment plans, and home-care instructions
• Maintain exam rooms, medical supplies, and inventory

Required Qualifications

• Medical Assistant experience in a clinical setting
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Experience taking vital signs and performing patient intake
• Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems
• Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
• Professional, compassionate, and team-oriented approach to patient care

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
• Previous experience in rheumatology, internal medicine, or another specialty practice
• Experience with prior authorizations
• Familiarity with biologic medications and specialty patient care

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Marcos, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
