Primary responsibilities include planning, developing, and teaching courses within the curriculum to facilitate student learning. Essential Job Functions Teach music courses at a variety of times and locations. Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application. Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner. Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines. Meet with and advise students before or after class, by appointment, or through electronic communication. Evaluate students to measure progress in achieving course objectives and inform them in a timely manner. Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community. Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required. Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Mastery of course content. Demonstrated leadership skills with a collaborative, teamwork, and facilitation style. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a wide variety of people. Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies, including collaborative learning, learning communities, and distance learning. Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, civic engagement, learning communities, and effective use of technology. Physical Abilities The work is sedentary, requiring occasional walking, standing, bending, or carrying light items such as papers and books. No special physical demands are required. Work Schedule and Conditions Equipment includes a PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, a calculator, phone, and other general office equipment. Interaction with internal and external contacts as needed. Work is performed in a climate-controlled classroom and/or lab environment with minimal exposure to safety hazards. Hours vary depending on class schedules; instructors must be available to students outside of class instruction. Required Qualifications Master’s degree or higher in music, or a master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in music. Salary: $55.44 per contact hour.
