Construction Inspector

From VT's Missisquoi Bay Bridge replacement to MA's Green Line Extension to NH's award‑winning Mount Washington Hotel to miles of pavement preservation throughout northern New England, our local construction management division and inspection team has steadily grown over the past twenty‑five years. We are looking for a Construction Inspector to help oversee road, bridge or associated construction with construction values ranging from $1‑$50 million. This position can be based out of Waterbury, VT. Location & Scope The inspector, depending on experience, will oversee various work elements from excavation, backfilling, compaction, cast‑in‑place concrete from formwork to reinforcement, installation of precast elements, bridge seats, bearings and joints, bridge rail, drainage, paving and other incidental items. The inspector will report to the Resident Engineer, or their designee. The position involves interfacing with contractor supervisors to determine and monitor daily work, completing daily reports, measuring and calculating unit price quantities, coordinating independent material sampling and testing, monitoring maintenance of traffic, taking and compiling photographs for tracking daily progress, and updating red‑line drawings using Bluebeam. Required Qualifications High School Diploma 5 years of applicable experience Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills Ability to learn how to read plans and specifications, or the aptitude to learn Valid driver's license Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, drug/alcohol and harassment policies Preferred Qualifications Associate of Science degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field Average proficiency with MS Word Suite Hands‑on experience with construction management software such as Site or Field Manager, APPIA, Procore, IPD or similar systems; knowledge of Bluebeam ACI, NETTCP certification or ability to attain within 3 months of hiring Any combination of college education, professional licenses, certifications and experience will be considered Benefits WSP provides a comprehensive suite of benefits focused on health and financial stability, including medical, dental, vision, disability and life coverage, retirement savings, paid sick leave, paid vacation (or other personal time), paid parental leave, and paid time off for bereavement, voting and certain legal proceedings. Compensation Expected salary: $55,600 – $100,000, with potential for adjustments based on education, experience, skills and geographic location.
