Energy Campaign Specialist

Position Overview The Energy Campaign Specialist (Specialist) will advance our efforts to make public lands part of the climate solution through powerful coalition building and strategic advocacy campaigns. The role leads work to protect public lands from drilling and mining while supporting a just economic transition for communities, moving away from fossil fuel extraction toward clean energy. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Assist in developing and leading the implementation of priority campaigns, creating strategies and tactics through shared campaign plans. Coordinate campaign logistics, including calls, meetings, and serve as a key point of contact for the energy and mining team. Engage coalitions to protect public lands from oil, gas, and mining while centering the most impacted communities. Collaborate with colleagues in Government Relations, External Affairs, and other units to track and monitor campaign activities and progress. Identify and engage new and non‑traditional constituencies and build authentic relationships with partner organizations. Serve as a primary contact for external partners by leading or attending calls, meetings, and trainings as needed. Research and produce advocacy materials, including fact sheets, reports, story maps, issue briefs, and web content. Develop impactful messages and communications strategies via opinion editorials, letters to the editor, and more. Support local partners and regional staff by creating materials and presentations and facilitating workshops on advocacy issues. Adhere to all TWS policies and procedures, including finance, human resources, and legal. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience supporting electoral or issue advocacy campaigns. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and actively listen to partners and community members. Experience leading coalition efforts and engaging diverse partners. Proven ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and time‑management skills. Track record of working successfully in teams representing diverse backgrounds and perspectives. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Initiative to develop ideas and see them through implementation. Knowledge of the congressional legislative process, land‑management agencies, public lands, climate or conservation policy is preferred. Willingness to travel for short durations. Preferred Locations & Salary The preferred locations are Albuquerque, NM; Denver, CO; Durango, CO; or Washington, DC. Salary range is $65,000–$77,000, depending on location and experience.
