Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Additional shift options available: 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM and 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Every other weekend requirement
• Every other holiday requirement
• No on-call or standby requirement
• 29-bed Med Surg/Telemetry unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: Days 1:4-5, Nights 1:5-6
• Nursing Assistants available on unit with varying coverage throughout the day
• Telemetry techs monitor 24/7 - RNs not required to read their own strips
• Charge nurse on all shifts takes an assignment; house supervisor present on all shifts
• Common patient diagnoses include ortho trauma, vascular, urology, neuro-spine, OBGYN oncology, and acute medical admissions
• Required to titrate drips following a prescribed nomogram (Heparin, occasionally Nitro, Bivalirudin, Cardizem, and Insulin)
• Equipment used includes CPAP, BiPAP, and High Flow Oxygen Therapy - no vents; respiratory therapy support is present
• Float required to other adult medical/surgical nursing units
• 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience required
• Block scheduling dependent on staffing; no self-scheduling
• Charting system: Cerner
• Scrub color: Any color, clean and professional
• Unit orientation includes 1 day of computer training and 1-2 days of precepted floor orientation
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)

Facility:

This is a Level 2 Trauma acute care facility offering a comprehensive range of medical and surgical services. The Med Surg/Telemetry unit provides care for a diverse patient population including orthopedic trauma, vascular, urology, neuro-spine, and oncology cases. The facility is supported by dedicated telemetry technicians, respiratory therapy staff, charge nurses, and house supervisors on all shifts to ensure high-quality patient care around the clock.
