Design Manager

Job Description

Designing and building infrastructure at record speed is key to enabling our global expansion. We are seeking a highly motivated Design Manager to join an Infrastructure Engineering team for a large automotive customer and focus on supporting the designing, collaborating, and building the first home of a new product while continuing to support critical vehicle programs.

In this role, you will own and drive the full design and engineering process for construction and infrastructure development from concept through production.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in engineering, construction, manufacturing, and project management, with the ability to manage multi-disciplinary projects and teams in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Construction, Manufacturing, and Production to ensure alignment on priorities and deliver world-class infrastructure at speed. This is an onsite role based in Fremont, California.

This role is paying $45-55/hr based of level of experience.

Skills and Requirements

Degree in Architectural, Civil, Mechanical, Structural, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience

Professional Engineer or Licensed Architect preferred

Electrical background preferred

Minimum 4 years of experience managing multi-disciplinary teams within A/E firms, with expertise in CSA and/or MEP projects

Strong understanding of all engineering disciplines and proven ability to lead and allocate engineering resources effectively

Demonstrated success delivering IFB, IFP, and IFC design packages for complex infrastructure projects

Experience in the design and development of manufacturing facilities and site infrastructure; skilled in coordinating with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) and fostering strong relationships with local agencies

Advanced project and program management skills, with a track record of solving complex engineering challenges

Proven experience managing subcontractors and third-party consulting firms across multiple concurrent projects

Willingness to travel globally and work extended hours as required; familiarity with construction management and scheduling tools (Primavera P6 preferred)
