West Chester Area School District serves more than 12,000 students across 17 schools: 11 elementary, 3 middle, and 3 high schools. A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a credentialed paraprofessional who works one-on-one with students receiving Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to implement their intervention plans. The RBT will work closely with the special education teachers and school teams to implement behavior plans for students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain a thorough understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), including techniques such as shaping, positive reinforcement, naturalistic teaching, prompting and prompt fading, and chaining.
• Collect behavioral data through direct observation and accurately describe and document student behaviors in measurable terms.
• Prepare complete and accurate behavioral reports in compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and workplace requirements, including documentation of relevant variables such as illness, medication changes, and other objective observations.
• Assist Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) with behavior reduction assessments and implementation of skill acquisition plans as directed.
• Implement individualized treatment and behavior intervention plans by teaching targeted behavioral and functional skills.
• Support and nurture the development of students' social, communication, and adaptive skills.
• Communicate behavioral intervention progress and outcomes to teachers, BCBAs, administrators, and other designated staff members.
• Demonstrate effective time management by prioritizing tasks, meeting required timelines, and appropriately communicating observational and behavioral data.
• Assist BCBAs with assessment procedures based on individual student behavioral needs.
• Collaborate with building teams and the Behavior Support Specialist to develop and implement skill acquisition plans designed to support student growth and independence.
• Collaborate with building teams and the Behavior Support Specialist to develop and implement behavior reduction plans, including interventions and differential reinforcement strategies.
• Maintain professional boundaries, clear communication, and receptiveness to supervisory feedback in order to strengthen professional performance and effectiveness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic computer skills required
• Excellent communication skills required
• Completion of a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) 40-hour training course, recognized by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
• Completion of an 8-hour RBT competency assessment, supervised by a BCBA.
• Successful completion of the BACB RBT Exam
• Annually renew certification and maintain supervisory requirements.
• Abide by the ethics outlined by the BACB.

Qualified candidate will be required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and to talk and hear; Sit and occasionally be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch; Have specific vision abilities, to include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus; Have the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; and possess effective communication, judgmental, planning and human relations skills, and will be required to work under periods of stress due to the level of the position responsibility.

Reporting Relationships:

• Works under the guidance and direction of the classroom teacher(s), Coordinator of Behavior Supports, Pupil Services Coordinator, Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA), and administrators in the performance of assigned duties.
• Works cooperatively with other administrators, supervisors, staff, parents and students to perform job responsibilities as outlined.

Terms of Employment:

• This position is a 10 month position.
• Salary (step/level placement) & Benefits are as described in the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
• Pay: starting at $25.97 per hour.
