Systems Test Engineer

Job Summary:

The Systems Testing/QA Specialist - Intermediate is responsible for designing, executing, and managing comprehensive testing activities for large-scale applications across multiple platforms including on-premise, web, cloud, and mobile. This role ensures the quality and reliability of software solutions by collaborating with cross-functional teams and utilizing both manual and automated testing methodologies within various development environments. Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver detailed test cases and scripts aligned with business requirements and project objectives.
• Execute various testing types including functional, regression, integration, system, performance, usability, and user acceptance testing across multiple platforms.
• Document and maintain accurate records of test discrepancies and defects using designated QA tools.
• Provide timely reports and recommendations to stakeholders on testing outcomes and quality assurance metrics.
• Develop and implement automated testing frameworks and scripts using tools such as Micro Focus/OpenText UFT, Selenium, Cucumber, and Serenity (BDD) as needed.
• Collaborate with project teams, business analysts, and developers to create and manage test data and scenarios supporting robust business process validation.
• Support and contribute to the continuous improvement of quality assurance processes within Agile, DevOps, and traditional SDLC environments.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
• Certification in Software Quality Engineering or equivalent credential (strongly preferred).
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in testing large-scale applications including on-premise, web, cloud-based integrations, and mobile platforms.
• Proficient in executing test cycles, analyzing results, and managing defect lifecycle using tools such as OpenText ALM, OpenText Octane, JIRA, X-Ray, and Confluence.
• Strong understanding of the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and experience working in Waterfall, Agile (Scrum), and Hybrid environments.
• Hands-on experience with functional, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical abilities.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with automated testing tools such as Micro Focus UFT, TOSCA, Selenium, Cucumber, and Serenity (BDD).
• Experience testing specialized platforms including AI-based solutions, ServiceNow, Salesforce, SAP, or equivalents.
• Experience with API testing and Accessibility (AODA) testing.
• Public sector experience.

Special Considerations:

• Must be able to collaborate effectively within hybrid work environments.
• Familiarity with Agile, DevOps, and traditional SDLC methodologies is required.
• Strong adherence to quality assurance processes and continuous improvement initiatives.

Scheduling:

• Hybrid work model requiring 3 days in office per week.
