About the Role

At Custom Mechanical Solutions (CMS), our Parts Team is the front line of our customer experience - supporting contractors, engineers, and building owners with fast, accurate, and knowledgeable service. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment and enjoys solving problems.

We are seeking a driven and relationship-focused Parts Outside Sales Representative to support the growth of our parts business across the Pacific Northwest. This role is highly customer-facing and focused on developing strong, long-term relationships with HVAC service contractors and building owners.

This position responds promptly to requests and gathers necessary information to assist in identifying and sourcing requested parts. The successful candidate will manage an assigned territory of approximately 40–50 active accounts while identifying and developing new business opportunities. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a field-based sales environment, enjoys building relationships, and wants to be part of a growing, technically focused HVAC organization.

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

• Manage and grow a defined territory of 40–50 active customer accounts
• Conduct regular in-person visits with HVAC contractors, service organizations, and building owners
• Identify and develop new customer relationships to expand market share
• Promote and sell HVAC parts, components, and related solutions
• Collaborate with the Inside Sales team to ensure accurate and timely quote and order execution
• Follow up on quotes and opportunities to drive sales conversion
• Provide customers with product guidance, availability updates, and technical support coordination
• Maintain consistent communication and visibility with key accounts
• Stay informed on manufacturer product updates, pricing, and availability
• Represent CMS in a professional and knowledgeable manner at all times
• Maintain a high level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all transactions
• Promptly identify parts and process customer quotes and orders
• Follow up with customers on quotes and inquiries regarding products or services
• Provide pre-sale and post-sale support as required
• Ability to efficiently manage, update, and ensure data accuracy across multiple CRM systems
• This is a field-based role requiring frequent travel within the assigned territory and regular in-person customer Time will also be spent in the office coordinating with internal teams.

Education & Experience Requirements: 

• Associate's degree with a minimum of two (2) years of years of outside sales, account management, or business development experience
• Computer skills are essential, HVAC Parts background is preferred
• Experience in HVAC, mechanical contracting, construction, or industrial distribution preferred
• Familiarity with parts sales, service organizations, or contractor relationships is a strong plus
• Proven ability to develop and grow customer accounts

 

 

Compensation and Career Path:

• Base Salary Range: $75,000 – $85,000 depending on experience and qualifications, and a $6,000 annual vehicle allowance.

• Variable uncapped performance bonus based on revenue growth, margin performance, and strategic contributions.
