Description:

Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all aspects of General Diagnostic Radiology. Familiar with and adheres to departmental protocols and policies. Obtains and maintains active RT(R) status. Utilizes technical knowledge to assist in troubleshooting work unit problems related to equipment and protocols. Enthusiastically shares knowledge with colleagues and students. Ensures accuracy of patient demographics, emulsion markers, and examination requests. Critiques, orients, and saves all pertinent images. Transmits quality-checked images to the PACS system. Documents completion and/or cancellation of all procedures in the RIS, including comments when appropriate. Maintains image management equipment and reports any issues to the appropriate resources. Effectively utilizes the PACS and HIS systems for additional study data. Performs work in a timely manner and consistently produces quality radiographic images. Analyzes requests and draws appropriate conclusions for examinations and action plans. Reviews radiographic orders and images, correlating them with patient demographic information. Ensures accuracy of information and reviews the daily schedule of patients waiting for examinations. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Documents incidents and informs supervisors of improvement opportunities. Utilizes RIS, CIS, PACS, and SMS to access information and document procedure status. Modifies orders for appropriateness and completes exams in the RIS system. Performs quality checks and transmits information to PACS, verifying successful transmission. Verifies patient identity and obtains pertinent patient history relevant to examination orders. Confirms pregnancy status before administering ionizing radiation. Assesses patient physical conditions and develops an appropriate action plan for examinations. Evaluates patient conditions to determine if additional medical personnel or equipment is needed and acts accordingly. Provides assistance to patients requiring extra attention. React to emergency situations and ensure patient safety.
