Position Summary


A member of the Freshman recruitment team reporting to the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admission, the admission counselor's primary responsibility is to guide students and families through the application and enrollment process, which includes meeting with prospective students, families and school partners to assess academic eligibility, discuss academic offerings and inform individuals of the Roosevelt student experience. This position will also serve as an initial point of contact for post-admission processes to supplement other offices like Financial Aid Services, Academic Advising, or other student support services and actively support campus events and visits.


This is a full-time, hybrid position with an expectation to be on campus three days a week.

The salary range for this position is $50,000-$52,000

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience within a college or university with knowledge of admission and financial aid processes.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Presentation, word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Office Suite preferred).
• Ability to articulate the values and mission.
• Team player who has the ability to adapt to a dynamic environment.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

• Spanish speaking (conversational)

Equipment Operated

• Basic office equipment: desktop/laptop computer, copier/ multi-function device, fax, cellphone and landline telephone.
• Software systems: CRM (Slate), SIS (Banner), video conferencing (Zoom) and remote communication tool (Microsoft Teams)

Working Conditions


Normal climate-controlled office environment is provided. Job is mostly sedentary, but there is a need to move about the office and buildings frequently. Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling is required (typically less than 15 pounds of weight or pressure). Regular use of desktop computer is required, calling for frequent hand/wrist movement and repetition.

Duty and Responsibility

Campus Events/Visit Coordination

• Organizes and executes large group visits, athletic visits, and in-person and virtual events related to undergraduate recruitment.
• Assist with management of daily visits for downtown campus, providing additional information to families, scheduling assistance, and prompt follow up.
• Responsible for answering the visit phone line and responding promptly to the visit email inbox. Provide excellent customer service on the phone, in emails and in person.
• Work with faculty, admission counselors, and staff to set up a calendar of classroom visit times and large group visits for undergraduate prospective students, assist in facilitation of these events.
• Working closely with the Admission and Event Coordinator, manages student ambassadors for front desk and campus tours with the goal of transitioning management of student ambassadors to this position.
• Establish and maintain relationships with faculty, staff, and other university department personnel who may meet with prospective families.
• Ensures prospective student initiatives are effectively meeting the needs of all offices involved.

Duty and Responsibility

Undergraduate Admission

• The Counselor will manage an assigned territory of partner schools, serving as the primary point of contact for assigned school partners, identifying, recruiting, admitting, and matriculating prospective students within their territory.
• Thoroughly reviews student credentials in making admission decisions using University guidelines and awarding merit scholarship opportunities. Uses the application and transcripts to evaluate students' ability to succeed.
• The Counselor will travel and attend in-person or virtual events to recruit prospective students, and will review applications for admission.
• Conducts outreach by email, phone, or virtually with students, parents and school partners.
• Understands and promotes the programs and services offered that contribute to the value and mission of Roosevelt University.
• Assists students with accessing and understanding general post-admission information and processes like financial aid, residence life, advising and student support services.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
