Senior Manager, Applied AI

Thermo Fisher Scientific

Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Senior Manager of Applied AI to lead a portfolio of artificial intelligence initiatives spanning generative AI, machine learning, and intelligent workflows. This role combines technical leadership with delivery accountability, driving a scalable AI operating model and establishing enterprise-grade governance practices.

Responsibilities

Lead applied AI portfolio from opportunity definition through deployment, establishing roadmaps, delivery plans and success metrics
Provide technical and delivery leadership across generative AI, agentic AI, machine learning and automation solution design and decisions
Lead, mentor and develop multidisciplinary technical teams including AI engineers and data scientists with clear accountability
Drive enterprise-grade AI capabilities including platforms, components, APIs and architectural patterns to accelerate delivery and reduce duplication
Establish and improve AI evaluation, monitoring, observability and governance practices ensuring production reliability and responsible use

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in AI, machine learning, data science, software engineering, or related field with 8–10 years experience; or advanced degree with 7 years relevant experience
Demonstrated leadership of AI or machine learning teams and complex technology portfolios in enterprise environments
Technical depth in generative AI, agentic AI, machine learning, and intelligent automation architecture and design
Experience establishing AI evaluation, governance, monitoring and operational practices in production environments
Ability to translate business needs into scalable, secure AI capabilities and drive reusable platform components
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with product, data, security, compliance and executive stakeholders
