Compensation: $21.95 DOE + DOQ + graveyard differential
Schedule: Sunday - Wednesday
2:30pm - 12:30am

Position Summary
The Safety Team Staff - Safety 1 supports Church at the Park's (View email address on ziprecruiter.com) mission by helping ensure the safety and security of staff, participants, and guests across the program sites. This position monitors activities on site properties, responds to emergencies, and maintains accurate records, and addresses safety concerns in accordance with established policies and procedure. The role requires building professional relationships and working collaboratively with team members and site staff to promote a calm, safe, and respectful environment.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of social services experience; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred but not required.
- Valid Oregon DPSST Unarmed Security License. Knowledge of and experience applying trauma-informed care principles required.
- Demonstrated experience mediating situations involving escalated behavior required.
Knowledge and Implementation of Safety Policies & Procedures
- Ensure safety of staff and participants by covering open shelter staff shifts as needed to maintain required staffing levels.
- Serve as the first point of contact for emergency responders.
- Complete all assigned paperwork accurately and on time.
- Write and submit incident reports when required.
- Review all updated in Homebase and the pass-down log.
- Communicate relevant site information in Homebase.
- Ensure incidents and pertinent information are communicated through proper notification process.
- Carry out View email address on ziprecruiter.com protocols and emergency procedures in the event of an incident.
- Attend required training and learn policies and procedures for shelter operations.
- Oversee site supply inventory and maintain supply forms.
- Operate and apply life-saving equipment as trained, including AED, LifeVac, tourniquets, gauze, and other first aid supplies.
- Transport infectious waste and other hazardous materials to designated disposal locations in compliance with OSHA regulations and safety guidelines.
- Wear appropriate safety team gear while on duty to remain easily identifiable.
- Regularly check organization email, Homebase, and ADP for direct messages, news, updates, and general information.
Build Meaningful, Professional Relationships with Guests and Staff
- Address safety concerns directly or escalate them as appropriate.
- Review and answer questions related to participant agreements.
- Mentor staff and volunteers when appropriate.
Maintain Physical Safety at View email address on ziprecruiter.com Sites and Surrounding Areas
- Monitor properties and surrounding areas for safety issues using a View email address on ziprecruiter.com vehicle.
- Collaborate with site staff to resolve security concerns.
- Ensure participants follow site rules.
- Help maintain a clam, safe environment by monitoring facilities and distributing supplies.
- Support the transportation team when requested, including during adverse weather.
- Arrive promptly and reliably for scheduled shifts.
Utilize De-escalation Strategies, and Non-violent Communication, maintain a calm, consistent presence across all View email address on ziprecruiter.com properties
- Respond promptly and professionally to participant grievances and concerns, ensuring each issues is addressed respectfully.
- Use trauma-informed care and nonviolent communication practices whenever possible.
- Document and report incidents involving escalated behavior according to establish protocols.
- Collaborate with site staff to identify and proactively resolve potential conflicts.
- Participate in ongoing training and development related to crisis intervention, de-escalation, and communication techniques.
Wage: $21.95/hour + DOE + DOQ
Physical Requirements :
- This position requires walking long distances outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
- Must be able to go up and down stairs.
- Must be able to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds or less.
Work Environment:
- Works in close quarters with vulnerable populations, including individuals without stable housing and those who may be experiencing mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and unpredictable behavior.
- Indoor/outdoor work environment with frequent interruptions and competing demands.
- Encampment settings may have unstable surfaces such as mud, roots, and rocks.
Other Requirements:
- Must have valid Oregon Driver's license; must have been a licensed driver for at least three (3) years; must have a driving record that permits coverage under View email address on ziprecruiter.com's company insurance.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening before beginning employment.
- High School diploma or GED Required.
- The ability to pass all background check requirements set by the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training.
Supervision & Guidance:
- This position works under general supervision and will receive regular direction, support, and performance feedback from leadership.
- The role requires initiative, reliability and regular communication with supervisors regarding progress, challenges, and development needs.
