Lead Radiologic Technologist - Up to $20,000 Sign On Bonus

Summary Under the general supervision of Manager, Medical Imaging, the Manager of Radiology oversees and coordinates the work of Radiologic Technologists and support personnel. Provides guidance and supervision to technologists and students on imaging procedures, ensures efficient scheduling of patients and rooms, develops appropriate work schedules, maintains inventories of supplies, assures operating integrity of equipment, and performs clerical and administrative functions as necessary. Additionally, the position regularly performs all functions of a Radiologic Technologist and maintains compliance with regulatory bodies such as the American College of Radiology and The Joint Commission. Responsibilities include fostering patient and family‑centered care for geriatric, adult, and pediatric patients and embodying Brown University Health’s values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence. Sign‑On Bonus Eligible for up to $20,000 Sign‑On Bonus. Responsibilities Schedule work time, holidays, sick time, and vacation coverage for unit employees. Assist with problems and communicate new or changed policies and procedures to unit personnel. Counsel, guide and evaluate performance of employees on the unit. Provide input on hiring or disciplinary actions. Manage patient flow by scheduling examinations and coordinating employee assignments based on volume, type of radiography, and equipment availability. Provide clinical experience for radiologic technology students, instructing and guiding them through procedures. Review student performance with instructor when necessary. Qualitatively check radiographs performed by technologists for quality control. Perform clerical and administrative tasks such as inventory, ordering supplies, compiling statistics, checking equipment for proper operation, arranging repairs, and contributing to budgetary needs. Assume charge‑duty responsibility during weekends in the absence of regularly scheduled supervisory personnel. Understand and practice ALARA principles of radiation protection, including use and exchange of personal dosimeters. Perform all functions of a Radiologic Technologist as required. Minimum Qualifications Registered through the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists and possess at least two years of formal training in an accredited school of radiologic technology. Hold a current and valid license from the Department of Health to practice in Rhode Island. Have current CPR certification from AHA and BLS for Healthcare Providers. Demonstrate ability to operate all types of radiographic and related equipment, including portable equipment, and to transfer and position patients. Show conceptual understanding to determine the appropriate radiographic technique for each case. Possess interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients under physical or emotional stress and to instruct employees and students. Display leadership skills and ability to organize and coordinate unit operation. Use analytical skills to compile and interpret routine data. Demonstrate knowledge of patient care with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns. Experience One to two years of increasing responsibility and experience in a hospital radiology department. Work Environment and Physical Requirements Work is located in the Main Radiology Department or in a smaller satellite operation. Exposure to radiation, noise, dust, temperature changes, and odors from automatic film processing is expected. Continuous standing, walking, pushing portable equipment, and lifting and positioning patients are required. Proper safety precautions should be followed to minimize risk. Salary $39.56 – $65.28 per hour.
