Licensed Practical Nurse

Overview Job Summary: A driven individual will perform nursing functions in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and within the guidelines of his/her professional organization, agency and Kinney Homecare. All functions shall be performed in accordance with the established policies and practices and state Nurse Practice Act. He/She will work in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team for the best patient/customer outcomes, education, instruction and compliance of patients. The LPN delivers care to patients/customers as delegated by the Registered Nurse. Responsibilities Provides professional nursing care in the DME setting as defined in the nurse practice act and under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Provides exceptional patient communication, education and support. Represents Kinney Homecare through professional appearance and attitude. Responsible for set up and instruction of respiratory equipment such as Cpap, Bipap, RADs, Oxygen, Cough Assist, High volume compressors and oximeters. Nurse/Clinician will play an active role in compliance to meet insurance guidelines while promoting a healthy sleep lifestyle. Provides follow-up phone calls within the required 72‑hour timeframe for respiratory equipment. Acts as a resource to patients when troubleshooting equipment is needed. Responsible for patient mask fittings/interface and utilizing the Mask Warranty Program. Familiarizes with online/web‑based programs for downloads, utilizes VirtuOx and processes orders. Responsible for home set up of equipment if required. Participates in on‑call responsibilities if required. Requires use of personal vehicle and a valid driver’s license. Communicates information with staff, referral sources, physician offices, patients and peers timely, consistent with agency policy and urgency of the situation, and documents accurately in Brightree. Ensures accuracy, completeness and timeliness of clinical documentation in accordance with policies and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of safety/infection control practices by complying with policies and protocol. Recognizes and responds appropriately to potentially unsafe conditions. Demonstrates safe practice and infection control in the use of equipment and procedures. Seeks education/training or assistance with areas of practice improvement. Stays current on Medicare guidelines for billing and dispensing as well as LCDs. Completes all mandatory and regulatory training programs (e.g., Bridge/DME training) in a timely manner or as assigned. Accepts responsibility for professional nursing duties. Follows and stays current with applicable state and federal laws, company policy and procedures, and renews license as required. Maintains confidentiality of all patient/customer PHI. Refrains from discussing client or staff identities, conditions, or circumstances in public or with others who do not have a legitimate interest. Attends scheduled clinical meetings as required. Assists in orientation/training of new staff. May serve as a backup for employee vacations, illness or other periods of time. Performs other duties as assigned. Educational Requirements Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Credential/Licensure Required Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the state(s) of employment. Valid driver’s license and appropriate automobile insurance coverage per Kinney Homecare policy. Experience Preferred Minimum of one year of experience in a DME (Durable Medical Equipment) field or setting with equivalent responsibilities. Physical Requirements Primarily medium in nature with exerting up to 35 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, bend or otherwise move objects; involves sitting, walking, standing, driving, talking, hearing, reaching. Ability to work at a desk for up to eight hours per day and engage in prolonged phone activity. Driver’s License Verification. Compensation $25.00 - $26.00 per hour. The final offer will be determined after careful consideration of multiple factors such as relevant skills, years of experience and education.
