Position Summary The Programs Manager provides day-to-day leadership and oversight of The Arc’s programs and the staff who deliver them. This hands-on management position is responsible for staff supervision, scheduling, program coordination, quality, logistics, and troubleshooting. The Programs Manager ensures programs are appropriately staffed, organized, engaging, safe, and responsive to participant needs. The position requires someone who can manage multiple priorities, support and develop staff, and step directly into classes and participant support when coverage is needed. The Programs Manager works closely with the Assistant Director on participant services and the Program Quality and Compliance Coordinator on documentation, quality assurance, and compliance. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Staff and Program Management Supervise, coach, schedule, and support assigned program staff. Establish clear expectations and address staff performance concerns in collaboration with the Executive Director. Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, and development of program staff. Coordinate daily program operations, staffing, schedules, locations, transportation, supplies, and other logistics. Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day program and staffing issues and arrange coverage for absences. Promote a collaborative, accountable, respectful, and participant-centered work environment. Program Quality and Participant Support Oversee class and activity content and work with staff to provide meaningful, engaging, and accessible programming. Ensure programs promote participant choice, independence, community inclusion, skill development, and individual goals. Observe programs and provide staff with ongoing coaching and support. Respond to participant, family, and stakeholder questions or concerns related to program operations. Provide direct participant support and step into classes, activities, transportation, or other program roles when coverage is needed. Identify opportunities to strengthen existing programs and develop new activities. Documentation, Safety, and Compliance Ensure staff complete required attendance, progress notes, service records, and other documentation accurately and on time. Work with the Program Quality and Compliance Coordinator to address documentation, training, quality assurance, and compliance concerns. Ensure staff follow participant plans, organizational policies, safety procedures, and program requirements. Respond appropriately to incidents, emergencies, and operational concerns and communicate significant issues to the Executive Director. Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement activities. Collaboration and Organizational Support Coordinate with the Assistant Director regarding participant needs, ISPs, service authorizations, and case management entities. Participate in staff and leadership meetings, organizational planning, and program development. Build positive relationships with participants, families, community partners, and other stakeholders. Perform other related duties as assigned in support of The Arc’s mission and programs. Qualifications Experience supervising staff and coordinating programs, preferably in developmental disability services, human services, education, recreation, or a related setting. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, scheduling, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple programs, employees, locations, and priorities while remaining flexible, person-centered, and solution focused. Experience supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and knowledge of person-centered practices. Ability to learn and use scheduling, documentation, and communication systems. Ability to complete and maintain required training and credentials for direct services. Valid driver's license and ability to meet organizational driving as needed . Working Conditions and Expectations This is an on-site position with a regular Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. schedule . The Programs Manager must be able and willing to move between program locations, participate actively in classes and community activities, provide direct coverage when needed, and respond to changing operational needs. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
