You must disclose all convictions, including a plea of guilty or nolo contendere, and a finding or a verdict of guilt in any criminal proceedings, even if the sentence or the judgment of guilt has been withheld or not entered thereon. This requirement applies to first offenders, as per Georgia State Law 25-8-7.1. Responsibilities Conducts evacuations and searches of the Courthouse in response to imminent emergencies, including bomb threats, fire, and other life threatening or non-peaceful situations. Provides rescue, patrol, and assistance in the event of a natural disaster. Provides for the safety and security of the Judge and Jury throughout all court proceedings. Maintains security, peace, and order in the courtroom, including coordinating and enforcing public seating within the courtroom according to safety and security policies, and conducting courtroom searches, jury searches, and visitor searches. Executes arrest warrants, serves subpoenas, civil processes, and writs, and completes arrests and incident reports. Performs duties involved in the safety and security of the jail, including responding to any suspected criminal activity observed or reported. Serves as the primary Deputy in the courtroom, including keeping the Judge informed of future hearings requiring additional security, receiving and distributing copies of court dockets, communicating with assistant District Attorneys regarding defendants, and performing other related court duties. Ensures the proper handling and security of all detainees transported to and from the court. Executes all writs, warrants, precepts and court processes as directed, including executing warrants, serving writs of possession of land and property, serving processes such as divorce and Rule Nisi, and affidavits. Participates with other law enforcement agencies to control illegal narcotics, including patrolling schools with drug detection dogs, conducting public demonstrations on the efficiency and effectiveness of canine patrols, training new dogs, and maintaining the canine kennels. Conducts narcotic investigations, including following citizen complaints, working undercover, preparing cases resulting in search warrants, and executing search warrants. Conducts comprehensive administrative investigations of complaints filed by the public or other officers, including collecting information and making reports to supervisory personnel. Maintains accurate reports on Use of Force forms generated by departmental personnel, including data entry of statistical information and generation of related reports for evaluation and review by supervisory personnel. Investigates matters relating to explosives, including reconstructing the crime scene, advises on probable explosive devices used, and conducts investigations leading to an arrest. Monitors highway traffic conditions to ensure safe traveling conditions for citizens, including issuing citations, and providing assistance to motorists. Ensures records are maintained in accordance with State and Federal regulations and are properly disposed of in a timely manner as regulations allow. Responds to calls and/or complaints from citizens, including taking statements from all parties involved, identifying any violations committed, and taking appropriate action. Informs Command Officers immediately of any situation which appears to be out of the ordinary. Maintains all appropriate reports and records of criminal and arrest activity for use in both documentation and prosecution. Transports prisoners from the scene of a crime to the appropriate jail or facility. Evaluates and determines the use of lethal force using the greatest level of discretion. Maintains security and possession of firearm and related equipment at all times. Maintains security on the scene of the detainment, including ensuring the safety of individuals with diminished mental capacity and/or severe substance abuse addictions and coordinating activities with psychiatric professionals and other related parties. Interviews witnesses, informants, and others to determine if any identifiable person must be investigated as a potential suspect. Gather evidence pertinent to a crime, including collecting physical evidence according to set procedures and legal guidelines, forwarding all relevant evidence for processing, and identifying evidence necessary to ascertain the facts of the crime situation. Makes arrests with or without a warrant, including locating the individual in surrounding jurisdictions and/or states. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school. P.O.S.T. Certified Peace Officer for Law Enforcement and in good standing. Possess or be able to obtain the Georgia P.O.S.T. Certification for Basic Jail Officer and First Aid CPR Certification. Possess a valid driver's license from the state where you reside with the ability to obtain a Georgia driver's license. Your vision must be correctable to 20/20 or 20/40 in each eye. Must complete and pass physical and psychological exams with a medical professional and pass a drug screen and background investigation.
