Position Summary The Contractor Sales Associate is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with professional contractors by delivering exceptional customer service, living Gold Beach's Core Values, and consistently executing the Seven Steps of Customer Service. This position assists contractors with product selection, quotations, purchases, special orders, and project solutions while generating sales, supporting store operations, merchandising assigned areas, and collaborating with teammates to ensure outstanding service and operational excellence. The Contractor Sales Associate serves as a trusted advisor who helps customers complete projects successfully while creating lifelong Customer Advocates. Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no supervisory responsibilities. - Consistently perform Gold Beach's Seven Steps of Customer Service.
- Prepare accurate quotations, sales orders, invoices, and customer transactions.
- Process account charges, cash sales, returns, exchanges, and special orders accurately.
- Follow through on customer commitments and communicate proactively regarding product availability, delivery timelines, and order status.
- Maintain honesty, professionalism, and accountability in every customer interaction.
- Follow company policies, operational procedures, and safety standards.
- Develop lasting relationships with contractors, builders, property managers, and commercial customers.
- Learn each customer's business to better anticipate their needs and provide personalized service.
- Answer telephones professionally and assist customers with confidence and urgency.
- Collaborate with store departments, yard personnel, purchasing, and delivery teams to ensure seamless customer service.
- Represent Gold Beach professionally within the communities we proudly serve.
- Continue expanding knowledge of lumber, building materials, hardware, and industry products.
- Stay informed on new products, promotions, pricing, vendor programs, and industry trends.
- Assist contractors in locating products, recommending solutions, and coordinating special orders.
- Maintain awareness of inventory levels and communicate product availability.
- Participate in merchandising, receiving, stocking, and maintaining assigned work areas.
- Communicate effectively with management and teammates regarding customer needs and operational priorities.
- Look for opportunities to improve processes and strengthen customer relationships.
- Deliver exceptional service that exceeds customer expectations.
- Provide timely, accurate responses to contractor requests and project needs.

- High School Diploma, GED, or vocational school graduate preferred.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in the building materials, hardware, construction, or related industry preferred.
- Previous retail, contractor, sales, or customer relationship experience preferred.
- Knowledge of retail computer systems; experience with Microsoft Office applications is beneficial.
- Demonstrated commitment to exceptional customer service.
- Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as business needs require.
- Frequently stand and walk for extended periods, up to eight (8) hours per shift.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with assistance when appropriate.
- Bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, push, and pull building materials and merchandise throughout the workday.
- Climb and descend ladders safely.
- Read plans, product information, computer screens, and written materials.
- Communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
