Overview Beaverton Pet Clinic is looking for an experienced Full Time Veterinary Assistant to join the team! Compensation: $20-24/hr depending on experience Location: 11876 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy, Beaverton, OR 97005 Beaverton Pet Clinic is proud to be a part of the local community for over 25 years. We are currently a 5-doctor hospital with roughly 15 additional support staff, and are continuing to grow and expand. With this in mind, we recently moved into a larger, newly renovated space just down the street from our current facility and are excited to add to our team! Ideal applicants will have at least 1-2 years of general practice experience, but we are open to training the right person. We are passionate about training our Technician Assistants to do everything they are legally allowed to do in the state of Oregon, so come ready to learn and grow your skills! * Please note we are looking for someone who can ideally work every Saturday. Our ideal candidate will have experience with: Assisting DVMs and Certified Veterinary Technicians with exams and medical treatments Getting up and down from the floor 800 times a day Entering medical notes and treatments into our medical software Managing nursing care and treatments Petting cute/feisty/sedated patients Setting up and maintaining treatment areas and supplies Client education No problem if this is still new to you or not. Job Summary: The Veterinary Assistant aids and supports the medical support team in the operation of an animal facility in accordance with Mission Veterinary Partners (MVP) hospital policy and procedures. The Veterinary Assistant also provides medical care to patients as allowed in the veterinary practice act. Responsibilities How you'll make an impact: Maintain and uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP. Assist in all daily duties for clinic care. Participate in any special cleaning duties. Provide client care by scheduling appointments, taking payments, and check-ins. Maintain excellent client communication. Record all pertinent medical, client and case related information in the patient record accurately. Review medical records, estimates or discharge instructions with clients. Answer the phones in a courteous and informative way. Provide patient care under the direction of a DVM. Perform clinic upkeep as directed. Perform equipment maintenance as directed. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Prior experience in a veterinary environment required - 5 or more years. Management experience preferred - 2 or more years. Proficient in a variety of skills ranging from laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental and nursing skills. Ability to demonstrate patience and composure in stressful situations. Ability to stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis. Must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics, and language ability to perform duties proficiently. Must be confident around pets. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb, as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds. Ability to endure sitting, standing, and walking on hard floor surfaces for extended periods of time. Able to work in noisy work conditions with sounds from animals and equipment. Routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and occasionally exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication/controlled substances. Must possess sufficient ambulatory skills to perform duties while in the hospital environment. Must have specific vision abilities which include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
