About the Role


A prominent public school district is seeking a dedicated and qualified Special Education Teacher to support students at the high school level in the Peculiar, MO area. In this role, you will provide specialized instruction and case management services in accordance with district policies and federal, state, and local special education regulations.


As a key member of our educator team, you will ensure students receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) by managing student caseloads, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and driving student achievement. Depending on district needs, individuals hired may also be aligned to similar essential roles such as Process Coordinator, Academic Evaluator, Case Manager, or Teacher of Record.

• Schedule: Traditional K-12 school calendar and schedule

Key Responsibilities

• Case Management: Serve as the primary case manager for assigned high school students; schedule, organize, and facilitate Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings.
• IEP & BIP Development: Develop, implement, oversee, and monitor compliance for IEPs and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
• Instructional Support: Support students across a variety of disability classifications with academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs using specialized instructional strategies and assistive technology.
• Documentation & Progress Monitoring: Monitor, document, and prepare progress reports, notices of meetings, prior written notices, and billing requirements to ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education regulations.
• Collaboration: Partner with administrators, general education teachers, families, and related service providers in multidisciplinary and problem-solving teams.
• Leadership & Supervision: Provide direction, support, and guidance to assigned paraprofessionals, instructional assistants, and new teachers.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Licensure: Active teaching license or verified eligibility for licensure with the appropriate special education endorsement.
• Core Knowledge: Strong understanding of special education curriculum, instructional methodologies, and evidence-based practices.
• Experience: Proven experience supporting students with diverse educational and behavioral needs.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with multimedia and assistive technology tools.
• Soft Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication, strong organizational documentation skills, and the ability to build positive working relationships with students, staff, and families.
