Senior Director of Operations

The Senior Director of Operations reports directly to the President. The Senior Director of Operations provides strategic leadership and oversight of the school’s operational functions, ensuring that the campus, facilities, technology, safety and auxiliary services, effectively support the mission of the school. Working collaboratively with the President, Principal, Vice President of Finance, Vice Principal for Student Life, Vice President of Advancement, and other senior leaders, the Senior Director of Operations develops and implements operational strategies that advance the school’s Catholic and Lasallian mission while ensuring operational excellence, fiscal stewardship, regulatory compliance, and exceptional service to students, families, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors. The Senior Director serves as a steward of the school’s physical assets and operational resources, fostering an environment that reflects the values of faith, service, respect, and excellence that define a Lasallian Catholic educational community. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following: Facilities and Campus Operations Provide executive oversight for all campus facilities, grounds, maintenance, custodial services, utilities, and infrastructure. Develop and implement comprehensive preventive maintenance and asset management programs. Lead long-range campus master planning and capital improvement initiatives in collaboration with the President and Board of Trustees. Oversee construction, renovation, and major maintenance projects. Function as Project Manager on projects under $750K. Ensure facilities are safe, attractive, functional, and supportive of student learning and community engagement. Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service agreements. Ensure vendor performance meets established service, quality and compliance expectations. Develop and administer departmental operating and capital budgets. Collaboration with architectural team Safety and Security Direct the school’s comprehensive safety, security, emergency preparedness, and risk management program in collaboration with the Vice Principal for Student Life. Oversee campus security personnel, systems, visitor management, surveillance, and access control. Ensure compliance with OSHA, fire safety, environmental, and applicable state and federal regulations. Maintain collaborative relationships with local law enforcement, emergency responders, and public safety agencies in collaboration with the Vice Principal for Student Life. Technology Provide executive oversight of the school’s technology operations and infrastructure. Partner with technology leadership and school administration to develop and implement a multi-year technology strategic plan. Ensure reliable and secure technology systems supporting instruction, administration, communication, and cybersecurity. Oversee technology budgets, vendor relationships, software licensing, and technology lifecycle planning. Promote innovation through technology solutions that enhance operational efficiency and educational excellence. Food Services Oversee the school’s food service program and vendor relationships. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standards. Monitor service quality, customer satisfaction, and financial performance. Evaluate opportunities to improve dining services and enhance the student experience. Facility Rentals and Auxiliary Operations Provide leadership for the school’s facility rental and auxiliary revenue programs. Develop policies and procedures governing facility use by outside organizations. Balance community engagement opportunities with protection of school resources and scheduling priorities. Ensure all rental activities meet contractual, insurance, and safety requirements. Identify opportunities to increase auxiliary revenue while supporting the school’s mission. Financial and Administrative Leadership Develop and manage annual departmental operating and capital budgets. Exercise sound stewardship of school resources and assets. Establish departmental performance metrics and operational benchmarks. Evaluate contracts and negotiate agreements with vendors and service providers. Recruit, supervise, mentor, and evaluate departmental leaders and staff. Foster professional development and succession planning within operational departments. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Facilities Management, Public Administration, Engineering, or a related field. In lieu of education, ten or more years of progressively responsible leadership experience in facilities and operations management, with experience overseeing multiple operational functions. Demonstrated experience overseeing multiple operational functions. Proven success managing budgets, capital projects, vendor contracts, and cross-functional teams. Experience in Catholic education, independent schools, higher education, or nonprofit organizations. Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
