Sacred Circle Healthcare is seeking a Full-time Optometrist.

General Summary of Duties: Responsible for providing comprehensive vision care to patients so they can care for their eyes and access tools to support their eyesight. Includes conducting eye inspections, evaluating eye defects, recording treatment plans, identifying signs of disease or injury, prescribing corrective lenses and maintaining medical files. Treatment of ocular diseuse within scope of practice defined by UT Optometry Practice Act.

To Be Determined with the availability of 8:00 am – 6:00 pm Monday through Friday. Typically, four 10- hour shifts per week. Evening and weekend work may be required depending on position requirements.

Responsibilities:

None

Major Responsibilities/Tasks:

• Oversees and directs the care of patients.
• Administer to the patient’s immediate optometric needs.
• Undertake medical evaluation, including history, physical examination, and referrals.
• Develop treatment objectives and plans.
• Initiate treatment orders and procedures.
• Educate and counsel patients to promote positive ocular health.
• Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
• Documents in a timely fashion.
• Consult with the Medical Director, as necessary.
• Promotes patient satisfaction in all clinical settings.
• Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
• Participates in clinical rotation in our Ibapah clinic.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Maintains professional level of conduct regarding attitude and communication with staff and patients.
• Understands and adheres to prescribing and scope of practice regulations as required by state.
• Reads, understands, and adheres to all Sacred Circle Health Care Policies and Procedures.
• Practices and adheres to the Code of Conduct and Mission and Values Statements.
• Other Duties as Assigned

Minimum Requirements:

EDUCATION:

Doctor of Optometry degree and valid license to practice in the state of Utah.

EXPERIENCE:

One (1) year or more of experience as an optometrist in a clinic setting.

• Completion of one-year ACOE accredited residency program

• Board Certification ( AAO Fellowship, diplomate ABO)

• Knowledge of information and techniques needed to provide patient ocular care.
• Knowledge of up to date, evidence-based clinical care including diagnosis, treatment, and procedures.
• Knowledge of examination methodologies and diagnostics.
• Knowledge of legal medical guidelines and medicine best practices.
• Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures, systems, and objectives.
• Ability to use computers, applications, and phone systems, including their use in telehealth appointments.
• Familiarity working with Electronic Medical Records
• Ability to work independently and self-direct.
• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team setting.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple tasks.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, clinical and administrative staff, and the public.
• Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and policies and procedures.
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Ability to communicate with an interpreter.
• Ability to remain calm and effective in high pressure and emergency situations.
