Brief Position Overview - Non-tenure track (NTT) faculty in the Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing teach undergraduate and/or graduate nursing courses using multiple teaching strategies including in-person active learning pedagogies, simulation learning, online/web-supported strategies, and/or clinical instruction. NTT faculty are located on one of the five CON campus sites (Bozeman, Billings, Great Falls, Kalispell, and Missoula) and participate in all aspects of the faculty teaching role. NTT faculty contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and continuous quality improvement. NTT faculty work collaboratively with other faculty and staff to develop cooperative relationships with clinical agencies, practitioners, and members of other disciplines to foster cutting-edge clinical education partnerships. NTT faculty report to a Campus Director.

General Statement - Montana State University seeks qualified individuals as non-tenure track (NTT) faculty to provide instruction and/or related functions. NTT faculty serve the Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing primarily in the teaching mission. Positions are non-tenurable. NTT faculty teach classes depending upon need and available funding. We seek individuals who embrace excellence, innovation, and inclusion in nursing education; are committed to serving the needs of diverse and rural students; and are dedicated to improving the health of Montanans by preparing tomorrow's nursing workforce. NTT faculty teach undergraduate and/or graduate nursing courses using multiple teaching strategies including in-person active learning pedagogies, simulation learning, online, distance-delivered, and clinical instruction. Applications are accepted on a continual basis (unless otherwise indicated) and will be maintained in the NTT pool for two years. After two years, candidates will be notified to re-submit materials for continued consideration. The NTT search committee reviews and evaluates submitted application materials. Applicants will be notified if their application is being retained in the NTT faculty hiring pool. Appointments are on a part-time basis and vary in duration (e.g., partial semester, full semester, academic year) depending on the specific needs of the department/program. Salary is dependent on number of courses taught and duration. Duties And Responsibilities
The primary role of NTT faculty is to help fulfill the teaching mission of the College. NTT faculty teach undergraduate and/or graduate nursing courses using multiple teaching strategies including in-person active learning pedagogies, simulation learning, online, distance-delivered, and/or clinical instruction. NTT faculty members of the Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing are expected to engage in service or outreach in addition to teaching. Each faculty member's relative emphasis on service or outreach is individually determined to serve the mission and responsibilities of the college and campus and to best utilize the strengths and interests of that faculty member, while recognizing the available resources of the College. Faculty members are expected to maintain a continuous program of professional development that includes attendance and participation at professional meetings and keeping current with the literature in their discipline. The College's five-campus system requires faculty members to travel among the five campuses for faculty meetings. Full time faculty (> .50FTE) are required to travel to Bozeman at least two times per year for college-wide, general faculty meetings. Faculty members must also travel to clinical agencies where teaching, service or outreach occurs. While functioning in the teaching role in clinical agencies, faculty members must meet all health standards set forth by that particular agency and, at a minimum, meet communicable disease control standards per College policies. Each faculty member must meet and abide by all requirements for the practice of professional nursing for the State of Montana as set forth by the State Board of Nursing Rules and Regulations. In addition, faculty members are governed by University and Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing policies and procedures, general professional nursing standards, and the specific requirements of clinical agencies in which they conduct teaching or service activities.
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Unencumbered RN license to practice Nursing in Montana. BSN or Master's degree in Nursing. To teach in DNP program, APRN license to practice in Montana and hold current certification as an Advanced Practice RN in the area of Psychiatric Mental Health or Family Nurse Practitioner. Successful work experience in nursing. Demonstrated clinical competence in the area of teaching interest. Demonstrated ability working in a collegial team environment. Demonstrated experience effectively using information technology to prepare and present instructional materials. Demonstrated experience working with and engaging diverse students and colleagues within and outside the department.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
For teaching in the DNP program, earned DNP degree in nursing. For teaching in the BSN program, earned Master's degree in nursing. Experience teaching college and/or adult learners. Use of technology beyond basic computer skills. Use of simulation technology for teaching-learning. Demonstrated commitment to student, faculty, and staff diversity.

Represent both the Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing and the University and, thus, act in a manner which reflects positively on the College and the University at all times. Non-Tenure Track Faculty– Any position that is .5FTE or more is represented by the Associated Faculty of Montana State University (AFMSU). Faculty covered by AFMSU may choose to pay membership dues. This is a condition of employment. Additional information can be found at AFMSU or by emailing AFSMU. Any position less than.5FTE is not represented by the Union and is not required to pay dues. If the FTE changes during employment, the representational status of this position could be impacted. The Program
MSU Mark and Robyn Jones College of Nursing has been continuously approved by the Montana State Board of Nursing since its founding in 1937 and has received continuous national accreditation since 1949. MSU CON is accredited by CCNE. The baccalaureate program can be completed on any of the College's five campus locations (Bozeman, Billings, Great Falls, Kalispell or Missoula). The Traditional BSN program admits 224 students annually. The Accelerated BSN program admits 48 students annually. Completion rates for both programs are consistently > 90%.
