Bar Lead

Piccadilly Market is a neighborhood market, café, and wine-forward gathering space focused on thoughtful hospitality, high-quality products, and an approachable European-inspired market experience. Our Lincoln Park location features a full-service coffee program, sandwiches, Roman-style pizza, grab-and-go offerings, cheese & charcuterie, wine, beer, and curated retail goods.

The Bar Lead is responsible for supporting the daily operations, organization, and overall service standards of the Piccadilly Market bar program. This role works closely with the Market Manager and Operations Manager to lead the bar team, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and ensure an exceptional guest experience centered around wine, cocktails, beer, and hospitality.

The Bar Lead serves as a hands-on leader and example for the team by upholding service standards, maintaining product knowledge, and helping execute beverage programming across the market, wine bar, and seasonal patio service. This position is ideal for someone with strong wine and bar experience who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment and enjoys mentoring and developing a team.

• Lead daily bar operations with a focus on organization, efficiency, cleanliness, and hospitality.
• Maintain high standards for wine, cocktail, beer, and beverage service.
• Assist with beverage ordering, inventory management, receiving, storage, and product organization.
• Support batching, prep, pars, and overall bar readiness for service.
• Assist with seasonal cocktail and beer rotations alongside leadership.
• Support menu rollouts, recipe implementation, and beverage program updates.
• Help oversee and execute service at the mobile patio bar during seasonal operations and events.
• Ensure all bar equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and functioning.

• Set the tone for shifts while clearly communicating expectations, priorities, and service standards to the team.
• Lead by example through professionalism, hospitality, urgency, and attention to detail.
• Support staff training, onboarding, and continued beverage education.
• Assist the Operations Manager with team trainings and menu rollouts as needed.
• Help maintain a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture.
• Provide support across the floor during busy service periods as needed.

• Deliver warm, knowledgeable, and attentive hospitality to all guests.
• Confidently guide guests through wine, cocktail, beer, and food offerings.
• Help create an inviting and polished wine bar atmosphere that reflects the Piccadilly Market experience.
• Address guest questions and concerns professionally and efficiently.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and health-code-compliant bar environment at all times.
• Ensure all opening, closing, and side work procedures are completed thoroughly.
• Assist with maintaining accurate inventory systems and minimizing waste.
• Uphold all safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service standards.

• 2-5 years of previous bartending and hospitality leadership experience required.
• Strong wine knowledge and wine service experience required.
• Strong understanding of cocktail, beer, and beverage service standards.
• Experience with inventory systems, ordering, batching, and bar organization preferred.
• Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to hospitality.
• Retail, market, or coffee experience is a plus.

• Ability to lift and move up to 35lbs throughout a shift.
• Comfortable standing, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
• Ability to safely use box cutters, pallet jacks, dollies, and other retail equipment.
• Comfortable working in refrigerated storage and other varying temperature environments. 
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and select holidays.
