About the Role:

Fin & Crab is looking for a talented and motivated Prep Chef to join our kitchen team in Charleston, SC! This is a great opportunity to sharpen your culinary skills in a fast-paced, energetic environment where quality and teamwork are at the heart of everything we do.

Responsibilities:

• Execute daily mise en place, including chopping, slicing, dicing, and portioning ingredients to chef specifications
• Prepare sauces, marinades, stocks, and other foundational components ahead of service
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation in compliance with food safety standards
• Rotate and label food items properly, ensuring freshness and minimizing waste
• Assist line cooks and kitchen staff during high-volume service periods as needed
• Receive and inspect food deliveries, storing items according to proper food handling procedures
• Follow recipes and plating guides consistently to uphold quality standards

Requirements:

• Prior experience in a professional kitchen or food service environment preferred
• Basic knife skills and familiarity with standard kitchen equipment
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper storage procedures
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency
• Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
• Food handler certification or willingness to obtain one
